I applied to a bunch of east coast schools like Cornell and MIT but I got rejected so now my options are Minnesota or Wisconsin. I want to major in Chemical Engineering. Which do you guys think is better for that?

what are the costs of each to you? include loans.

Pay attention to (a) costs, and (b) whether you are in the major at entry, if you can declare it after passing the prerequisites, or if you must go through a competitive admission process to enter the major.

What do you want out of college? A degree or a life experience?

Cost isn’t an issue because of certain scholarships etc. I’ve been admitted directly to Chemical Engineering at Wisconsin and the honors program at Minnesota.

Then it’s really up to personal preferences.
Madison is an AWESOME college town.
UMN is in the Twin Cities, a metropolis.
Two different environments.
I’d lean toward Honors at UMN because Honors offers perks, but ymmv.
There can’t be a wrong choice here.

I will say that Chem Engineering is probably the most highly rated / respected department at U of MN.
