V.I.P - What are my chances of getting into PRINCETON? LOL

You have an excellent chance ay Princeton. Try to show some passion in your brag sheet though. Looks like community service is your passion from what you posted.

Gotta love those old days where there was no bs extracurriculars or volunteering...if they actually brought that back I would study and try..

If your essay reflects your pompous personality at ALL you have no chance. Princeton doesnt want pompous people.

I was saying...is your rank top 10%?

i think you'll do fine..

but dont get ur hopes up...cuz if you dont write a KICK ASS essay, you wont get in!

good luck though!

(he has a proffessional edited/written essay)

Kinda funny but still sad. Your scores are good although your EC's aren't all that flashy. Like it doesn't all come together to give a good picture of you. Though be careful in your interview- if that arrogance comes out ...

"If your essay reflects your pompous personality at ALL you have no chance. Princeton doesnt want pompous people."

Are you kidding me? From my visits to Princeton and my relations with Princeton alumni, I can boldly say that they are, for the most part, pompous. Yes, I can admit that I'm jealous of your stats and that I would never get into Princeton, but having visited and having Princeton alumni neighbors, I have developed a hatred for that place.
When I visited, the tour guide kept referring to the students as, "us Princetonians," and gloating about how the cannon was stolen from Rutgers because they had the money and time to bury it under hundreds of pounds of gravel that had to be imported into the school for that specific purpose. My neighbors are total *******s. They went to Princeton; my parents grew up tending pigs and goats, went to modest colleges in Korea, and immigrated here only to find that their degrees (including my dad's Masters' in Engineering) were null. And yet, we live in the same neighborhood, and my parents' business acumen has allowed them to live in the same comfort range as my neighborhood Princeton graduates.
I think you have an excellent chance. Go to that amazing school, because I'm sure your ego-soaked ass will have a swell time. Too bad a great school gives back only what you put into it. Otherwise, people with perfect stats would rule the world. (real-world examples: Bill Gates (college dropout), Sidney Frank (founder of Grey Goose vodka, millionaire, and college dropout)).
Despite this rude, scathing rant, I hope that you learn from all these posts. Don't go on the defensive; let the blows make you stronger. You have a great brain, and your community service hours weren't all motivated by the number on your transcript; it takes some true dedication and empathy to accrue those hours. Be a good boy and learn now.

A bunch of my friends go to Princeton and none of them are pompous. Of the two most pompous people I know, one goes to Harvard and the other, well, so far he got deferred from Yale. We'll see what comes of him.

But the people I know who're going to Princeton are all incredibly bright, mostly social people.

The friends I know going to Princeton are kind of stuck up, but they earned it, and I still love them.

okay dude
u dont seem like a bad guy, I just kno that ur not reely asking a question here. u KNO that u have a good chance of getting into princeton, u just want to impress ppl. which can be irksome. im not saying that ur a boasting, egotistic fool. ur a smart guy if ur telling the truth. but if u kno something for sure, dont ask a question about it. leave it alone.

Newsweek is gotta be the worst ranking system ever. If you havent noticed its based on the NUMBER OF AP TESTS students take. My school can be #1 by forcing everyone to take AP Tests and all of them fail. Ta dahh!

"I was saying...is your rank top 10%?"

baklava, i think he means in is in the top 10%, but that is not his rank.

"I am sorry if i made any bad comments, cause i am for one ting, EXTREMELY retarded when it comes to public speaking. To tell you the truth i had anxiety disorder, so PLEASE forgive me for inappropriate aomments. "

you had anxiety disorder? about that ego thing, you posted your stats on at least two other threads (maybe there were more, i only saw two) that were not yours in this forum. now, that is not anxiety disorder, that is pompousness.

"My school can be #1 by forcing everyone to take AP Tests and all of them fail. Ta dahh!"

yeah, that is what my school is doing from this year on. everyone in an AP class, has to take the AP exam.

"Excellent essay(paid money to college advisors to perfect it)"

excellent...

ass

are you people even serious?!??!?! whats wrong with all of you?!??! i dont think theres a single person on this board that sent out an essay without someone atleast remotely helping/checking/editing/reading it for them!!! so why critize the OP...you dont need to be rich to afford that either...im sure it doesnt cost 1000s of dallors!!

why doesn't everyone lighten up. if you think that the op did this as an ego boost or whatever, then just don't respond...

yeah real good chance though admissions is a crapshoot. Market yourself well and wait for the luck of the draw.

I agree with the others work on your attitude, gifted or not, in the end your interaction with others will make or break you.

[/QUOTE]
im sure it doesnt cost 1000s of dallors [/UNQUOTE]

Actually I read somewhere that some essays can cost much more than a grand. And there's a difference asking a friend or someone to read it and to pay a service to "edit" your essay.

I think everyone's quite tense because RD apps are due next week. Just imagine applying to Princeton with an essays YOU SPENT TIME ON - only to find out someone else just cheated their way there instead.

Oh- and another thing op- you don't want to come off to the OP as a stereotypical overachieving and ultracompeditive Indian.

I would laugh if adcoms read your post and remember the details so when they read your app they'll remember you... :p

i guess im just a firm believer in the fact that if you have money you might as well spend it...why should he worry about people who cant afford it?! in the end its everyone for themselves...i cant afford things like that but if i could i certainly would use them!!

he should only worry if he cares about ethics

otherwise anything's fair game...

where the hell does it say that its not ethical to get your college essay professionally checked?!
is that a part of the bible i missed or something?!

anyways my point is...people do what they want and what they can afford...and just because you may think somethings wrong with it doesnt mean there is...doesnt mean there isnt either...but its up to the person to decide...and i really dont see the HUGE crime committed
