Va Tech or Wake? Help!!!

I was accepted at Wake and it's my #1 choice. I got a decent aid package - for the first year. However, the tab for the remaining years is scaring my parents - and me, since I'll need to take out some hefty loans. I'd appreciate some feedback on what makes Wake so special that it would merit someome going into debt big time for an undergraduate degree.

My plans right now are to major in biology; however, I'm not interested in pre-med. Any insights on the quality of this department? Socially, how's the frat scene - is it overbearing? How difficult would it be for a quiet studious guy like me (although I do love sports) to fit in to the Wake community?

BTW, I was also accepted into Virginia Tech's honors program. Lots of opportunities to do research with faculty, take challenging courses, customize my major, etc. - and at almost half the price of Wake.

I love Wake, but I need to justify in my mind the sacrifices that will need to be made to make it happen. Any thoughts you might have are greatly appreciated.

VT if you don't mind the isolation.

Wake is a much more intimate environment. You'll be invited to faculty homes, you'll know most of the people on campus and you'll know most of the people who return for your 25th and 50th anniversaries. On graduation day at Tech, one of your professors may ask you what your plans are from here; at Wake they'd never ask - they're supposed to know and they're supposed to have worked with you on those plans.

VT--it's not that mega big and very friendly in a downhome way. The town is small but close to Roanoke which is pretty cool and the mountains. Winston-Salem is no prize.

No question about it - Wake Forest. It's a higher quality institution with unquestionably better students.
