Vagelos LSM Program

What track are you guys and gals doing?

I’m going through the management track.

I'm on the management track also! Where are you from?

life sciences track
how selective is this program if there already 5-6 people on here that got accepted, yet it says only 25 people get accepted per year. i guess there was a low number of applicants

I'm from Michigan, where are all of you from? So far I only know of us three that have been accepted. Well if 25 people are accepted and Penn usually takes about half of its class ED, then it would be reasonable to say 10-12 people were accepted in the ED round. I'm doing management track.

yeah 10 people, counting you thats 5 of 10 on CC, which is a really high number.

anyway, i'm from kentucky

hope to see you all in sept.

i got in from central jersey... management track

yeah im in...life sciences track

wait this is SO awesome i didnt expect to get in!!! this is a lot of people so far

and i got a bomb-ass financial aid package! which is weird bc i didnt think i would qualify!!! but i guess my sis is in college too so that helped

Yay I am really excited to meet all of you :) I'm doing management btw...although I wish I had picked life sciences lol

whoa, theres a lot of people in the LSM program just from collegeconfidential.

hey guys, join this facebook group for LSM, so we can put names to faces. We'll be taking a class together 1st semester!

http://hs.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2226278134

what exactly is "keeping your grades up?" A's and B's? or straight A's....because now that im in, im sooooooooo over studying. they wont rescind admission if we get B's will they? bc that would SUCK. especially for LSM, bc its so hard to get into. and my exams are next week, as in tomorrow.

a sprinkling of a's and b's with one c won't rescind admission

Hey, I've been deferred from UPenn and I opted for the Vagelos Management track. I'm not really sure what to do at this point, because I'm an IB student with my HL's in traditional subjects (English A1, Biology, and Chemistry) and I've been doing APs since 9th grade. My SAT Subject Tests were in Math Level 2, Chemistry, and Biology M. I'm also a legacy student and my essays were quite good, as far as several of my Penn alumni friends and Penn professors tell me.

But I was deffered...!
What are the stats for the LSM candidates who are already admitted?

i had a 2270 on my SAT (1510 math and verbal) 800 in math II 790 in USH and a 710 in physics.. 33 on the ACT... internship with johnson and johnson for a month.. NJ gov school for international studies.. top 2% in my class

got an LSM letter today

nineuhman880, my stats are definately not as great as yours (660 Math 2, 670 Biology, 1930 SAT I), but I am redoing my SAT I and my essay was really good. I had members of a biotech company look over it as well and they were impressed. I really want to get into a career that combines medicine and management and so I am taking my IB sciences as HL subjects. I think it was my SAT scores which deferred me though. I hope I wasn't flat out rejected from LSM. I'm ridiculously in love with the program's missions statement and I know I could succeed in such a program.

Suggestions on what to do now? To get into LSM, specifically.

So does anyone know the difficulty of this program? How much harder is this program going to be than if i had majored in biological basis of behavoir, or another science field, and compared to a wharton major for those who chose the management track. I'm ready for the challenge, but i want to make sure i didn't totally screw myself over with work.

Hey everyone, I just got in RD and I'm almost definitely going. Haha it seems like half the program is on CC already...

Does anyone know where we can find more detailed information about the program's requirements and stuff? There isn't much on the website.
