So, I was looking through the stats for the Brown freshman class and noticed that 18% of valedictorians that applied were accepted...could anyone venture guesses for other top schools, such as HYPSMC etc.

Most of the times, valedictorians are so focused and consumed by school that they lack personality. Top private colleges have a knack for distinguishing smart kids with personality.

^What a joke…

diana: generalize much?

^ Notice how that poster said “most of the times”…

^Yes, that’s the very definition of “generalization”

The others in their peer group ares about the same, lower for HYPS.

Tere are a lot, by definition, of average high schoosls out there. Simply getting the top grades at a typical shools does nrot begin to make a student ivy eligible. Its not uncommon to see lots of vals with low test scores, few ECs, no class rigor, etc.

Hmm I think that’s so true actually~ last yer, the valedictorian at my school was nowhere near as competitive as the 3rd and 4th ranked kids
