Shouldn't you have already gotten your IB scores? I got mine already.

I have only received my math score and it was a 6. I am taking the rest of the IB tests in May 2009.

Oh ok. A 6? Wow that was pretty good. Did you take SL or HL?

sadly...SL....:o)

Hey, thanks for chancing me. I would say that if you are a good candidate for the schools that you listed. I would advise you to take the SAT again as well as the ACT. I think that would complete your resume.

Yale University - Reach (SAT's pulling you down)
Harvard College - Reach (same reason as Yale)
University of California, Davis - In
Chapman University - In
Texas Christian University - In
Westmont College - Don't know much about this school
Point Loma Nazarene University - Same as above
Stanford University - Reach (SAT's again)
University of Evansville - Don't know much
Arizona State University - Barrett, The Honors College - In with scholarship into regular school. don't know about ASU honors prog.
Pepperdine University - In
Southern Methodist University - In

I did Math SL too, lol. Im on part II though next year.

Thanks so much to all that "chanced" me...the advice really is helpful and I appreciate it! :o)

ok...Duke...U of Chicago...Thanks I will do some research. Do any of you CCers know about any great scholarships for Valedictorians? :o)

:O) Bump :o)

any more advice??? :o) thanks!

definitely get your SAT's up to at least a 2000. then you might have a better chance at yale, stanford, and harvard. i'd say if u have a higher SAT and really strong essays then you can get into stanford, i know quite a few people who have gotten in from my school. harvard and yale still might be a stretch, but you never know!!! good luck! harvard is gorgeous btw, have u ever been?

No, I have never visited Harvard or Yale. I visited Stanford in the spring and it was really beautiful. Harvard became a possibility when I receved the Harvard Prize Book Award, and the alumni told me I should apply. I have done the virtual tour on the web several times. It looks beautiful! I dare to dream. Have you ever seen Yale?

Why don't you retake your SATs and try to get 2100+?

Ah, you are sort of like me; great grades but SAT is holding you down a bit =). I would say since you are in IB and have a few good EC's that you have done for a while, you are a strong candidate for all the schools, but as you know, the ivys are random assortment. Good Luck and Chance me if you have the time on 'Just for kicks'.

Hey....I forgot to mention...I am also a First Generation College Student. Will that help me at all? :O)

SATs need to be up, up, up! Of course, HYS will be reaches regardless of your stats, but if you don't break at least 2000 and preferably 2100/2150, I'd say you're out for those schools. The rest of the list looks good however.
