Does being Valedictorian help during the admission process?

No. Its the wrost thing to put on the app.

The worst thing? Why? o.O

Nope. They hate it. Better fail everything now.

No, but seriously?

Clearly sarcastic. How can it be anything but not helpful to graduate FIRST PLACE? Seriously…

I am an international student and many things are really different in my country. I just needed to ask. Know I’m silly. :’)

Yes, it is very helpful to be valedictorian. But keep in mind that at top colleges, many students were at the top of their high school class… it is impressive but not unusual.

If you add valedictorian to lots of ECs, then it begins to mean more. If all you’re good for is academics, you won’t be as desirable. Gotta be rounded.

At our public high school, grades are done on gosh, not sure what to call it. 90-100% = A; so if you get a 91% you get an A (not an A-) but that also means that if you get a 89%, you get a B… not a B+. What this means in a school of 2400+ students it that you get over 40 valedictorians or some goshawful number like that…all of whom have unweighted 4.0. So… valedictorian is very good – but make sure that your school’s profile indicates decision details.

Okay. Thank you very much. :)
