I'm on track to be valedictorian of my class of around 700 people and I was wondering what exactly does that mean. I have a 4.0 unweighted and 4.8 weighted GPA. Also, I have taken lots of honors and AP courses.
What can being a valedictorian do for me in regards to admissions and scholarships?

Scholarships for being Val are usually small…like a 1000.

Most scholarships are based mostly on test scores. What are yours?

and how did you do on the PSAT?

@EM2015

Since actual val designation doesn’t occur until after colleges admit kids, the impact is mostly on special scholarships, like you’ve mentioned.

Otherwise it’s nice but ultimately “meh” for the colleges (although they take the data and brag about how many they have – which is really foolish b/c they really can’t control the outcome based upon whom they admit). Nice to have. Gramma will be happy. But don’t sweat it.
