Hello,

This is my first time posting on here so I apologize if this thread is misplaced. I was recently rejected from Berkeley and would like to appeal. I wanted to know whether one of my main reasons for appealing is valid or if it will be dismissed.

I just realized I made a mistake regarding my major at Berkeley. I am not sure how exactly this happened, but was most likely an accident. I am a prospective Computer Science major, but have no interest in Engineering and am interested in a more broad education, not one in engineering. Looking here (http://general-catalog.berkeley.edu/catalog/gcc_view_req?p_dept_cd=COMSCLS) I can see the L&S path would be far more relevant to my interests, and EECS would actually not fit me well at all.

However, after reviewing my application online today, I realized my major was listed as "Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences" -- not the one at L&S. I realize CS at L&S is easier to get into than at EECS (although I'm not sure by how much), and as I mentioned before, I would fit better at L&S.

My question is whether selecting the wrong major (making a mistake in my application) is a valid reason to appeal my rejection. In addition to this reason, I can also provide new developments for my application.

My Stats:
SAT: M:800 | CR: 800 | W: 730
ACT: 35
SAT Math 2: 720 | SAT Bio: 770
GPA: 4.76
+extracurriculars

Thank you very much.
