<p>My family's experiencing some financial difficulties and my parents would prefer I skip the first semester or take a gap year.</p>

(I honestly don't think it would but my parents seem to think otherwise) </p>
<p>I think financial consideration is always a valid reason, especially if you work during that gap year.</p>
<p>Of course that’s acceptable. You are UNABLE to pay and have no recourse other than to defer or completely withdraw. If you were the university, how would you treat people in that situation?</p>
