Value of Buisness/Political Work?

Does Princeton value work experience at places such as Hedge Funds, internships, and working for Republican Organizations over things such as service and volunteer work? I have what i hope to be Princeton quality grades, and I do have some service/volunteer work just not as much as other Princeton hopefuls.

If you already work at a Hedge Fund, why do you need to go to Princeton?

Its not like i’m a senior trader. It was more of a learning experience than actual work.

Working at a hedge fund during your high school years just means you have connections, and once there, you’d only be doing the most menial of tasks. So in all likelihood, it will have no positive effect on your chance of admission.

Most high school students in research labs, volunteer organizations, sports teams and school classrooms are doing the most menial of tasks. So in all likelihood, nothing you ever do has a positive effect on your chance of admission.

Phew - I’m glad we cleared that one up.

Ok… Let’s not be fatalistic here. Princeton will value whatever you bring to the table. However, you simply must bear in mind that, and especially at Princeton, you are going to be compared against people who have made groundbreaking discoveries and done really fantastic political stuff, so just keep your other qualifications handy too, and don’t rely on any one thing as you “in”.
