value of Masters of Engineering?

Hello,

Im kind of new to this end of the messageboards thus this maybe ridiculous question from ignorant undergrad......

how valuable is a masters of engineering from a top tier school in terms of jobs, moving up on the ladder, earning a higher salary etc.

thanks!

I'd like to know of people's experience with this too: value of MS from top 5 school vs value of MS from top 50 school? Where are your co-workers and bosses from?

Obviously, a masters will boost your career vs only a bachelors degree.

I honestly think that a top 50 (top 20 even better) MBA will pay higher ROI than a masters in engineering. Engineering is a great pre MBA major, too.

What type of engineering? It can vary pretty significantly between fields.

I'd be interested on people's views to this topic as well - specifically for a M.Eng degree in electrical engineering, like Cornell (or a standard MSEE degree that does not have a thesis requirement, such as Cal-Tech, for instance).
