What is the value of a FEMBA program if I don't want to go into finance or consulting? I'm weighing the cost (let's say UCLA or USC) of $35K/year vs the return once I'm done. Currently I work in the public sector for urban planning and would like to transfer into private sector within the same industry (planning/architecture/design/engineering).

I'm thinking an MBA would help advance and allow me to have a better role in the business aspect of things. However, would it really be worth to drop that much cash? I know the non-finance and non-consulting post salaries are not very high, which would mean only a modest gain in salary. Plus I'm already in my early 30s with a master's degree in planning. I could paint a good picture, but am worried I won't be attractive to UCLA or USC.

Of course, LMU and CalPoly Pomona costs are much less (especially CPP)....
