I applied for CAS Economics and also second choice in Peabody HOD. I don’t think you guys have any worrying considering your amazing grades and test scores.

I am from Birmingham, Alabama, and applied Early Decision as well!

ACT: 33
SAT: 2280 (750 math, 750 writing, 780 critical reading)
GPA: 4.0 unweighted

Good luck to everyone!

I’m from South Florida, applied ED 1, SO excited/nervous/jittery to find out. I want to major in HOD at Peabody.
SAT 1300/1600 (i dont remember my writing score, sorry!)
GPA: 4.7W, 3.9 Core classes

I applied to CAS as a Medicine Health and Society major
I also want to minor in music performance at Blair

i applied ED…i’m from NY…i want to get in SO badly

19 or so days!

when exactly do we get our letters? Are they sent out the 15th or is that when we get them?

I think they say the 15th but my brother actually got his on the 13th 3 years ago.

Do we know how many people actually applied through EDI this year?

15 days!! :o

on the vandy admissions blog they said they got over 900 ED1 apps.

that is the weekend they were due though. who knows how many total but I am guessing about 2000 and probably more.

has anyone else started to become wicked nervous about the decisions and can’t seem to do anything anymore? or is it just me.

If they had 900 over the last weekend, then there will be a ton…yay…

You’re not alone…I feel sick all day because of it. I just want the process to be over, really…

I am so nervous I can’t even function! I applied ED 1 to Vanderbilt too.

Weighted GPA: 3.69
SAT math: 680
SAT critical reading: 650
SAT writing: 740
(composite: 2070)
and I’m from Tennessee…which is a disadvantage :(

I so want to go to Vanderbilt, but my GPA is low (but I go to boarding school, so I hope that helps!) and my SAT scores are in the very bottom of their middle 50% range.

Does anyone have a good idea of how many ED1 applicants there were total? Also, I go to boarding school and I think I will be at home when my letter comes in December, and I’m pretty sure my mailing address is listed as my school…so do any of you know if I can call to find out if I get accepted or not? Thanks!

princesslucy,
Vanderbilt won’t release your decision by phone until about 5 days after the mailing date (depends on where the weekend falls, etc.). If they mail on Dec. 14th or 15th, I wouldn’t expect that you can call before Dec. 21st.

Thanks 2VU0609! Do you (or does anyone else) know how long it generally takes for the letters to arrive? And has anyone heard how many people applied ED1? Also, what percentage of ED1 applicants are usually accepted? Thanks!

If you go through the blog history on vanderbilt.edu for 2009 admissions, slightly more than 45% EDI apps were accepted, and for overall EDI and ED2 combined, around 37% were accepted. Vandy says they only announce combined ED I and II official statistics (SAT 25-75, number of overall ED applicants and acceptances offered, etc), but Thom did mention in his blog the >45% acceptance number after the EDI decisions were mailed last December. The 37% number was mentioned when EDII letters were mailed in a later blog. There is no mention in that blog of how many applicants separately applied EDI and how many applicants applied EDII, only the combined number of ED applicants. Good luck to each of you!

I just found this Vandy Blog. I also applied EDI to Vandy. I have a 30 on my ACT, which is at the bottom of the range. 10 days til the letters come out!

i just had a concern:
i sent in both SAT and ACt scores to Vandy ED1. Sat was a 1410/1600 or 2200/2400. but ACt was a 29. will this lessen my chances of acceptance because of the large variation in test scores? i didn’t know my ACT score before i sent it-a very stupid decision in hindsight. what do you guys think? my parents are very upset and concerned
:(
