Vanderbilt 2020 Waitlist - Discussion

I got my third interest email today, when I saw that I had an email from Vanderbilt admissions I almost had a heart attack. Just got to keep hoping

How many people do you think are still on the wait list?

Thousands

Anyone else find it odd that this thread is so small, considering how many people are waitlisted? Wonder if that means anything…

May be many people keep quiet and count their blessings? I’m very anxious.

Yeah me too. I’m on the waitlist for Vandy, Duke, and Georgetown. Still haven’t heard from any of the three.

Where are you committed to? What are your stats? Do you need financial aid? Where are you from? (Which state!) Thanks!

@jl2800. Committed to Johns Hopkins. Don’t need financial aid. Female from Maryland.

@jl2800 My daughter is committed to UChicago. Needs financial aid. From Michigan.
I would love to know an approximate number of how many students are left on each of the schools waitlist.

My son put a deposit down at UVA but is also wait-listed at Vanderbilt.

Has anyone gotten off the waitlist today?

We haven’t heard a thing from anyone.

Son is still waitlisted at Vanderbilt. Not looking likely at this point. Committed to Cornell Engineering. Good either way. Applied for financial aid but did not qualify for it anywhere - just got merit scholarships at some schools. Hope that has not been held against him by Vanderbilt, which supposedly becomes need-aware for the waitlisted kids. People who are still really interested in Vandy should probably be calling and/or emailing their admissions counselors once a week to stay in touch and confirm strong desire to attend. It could be a waste of time, but you never know.

It’s not a waste of time. It’s only May 9. Concerning financial aid and VU being “need aware,” my daughter (who got off the wait list a year ago today) needed quite a bit of “gift aid,” and she got every penny. I think VU cares more about the right student to complete the new freshman class than the spreadsheet. Don’t give up hope!

The counselor at my son’s school said that she was told that the Vandy reps don’t know when the second wave will be. She said possibly end of this week or early next week…not sure if that was her guess or if Vandy admissions actually said that to her, but she said definitely not happening today.

I was wondering if they do not need that many of people this year. Or they got enough people in the first round?

I got into Vanderbilt today at 3:04 PM

I got in today at 3:04

@Arty123 Do you mind posting a pic of the email?
