@Arty123 Also, didn’t you get into Harvard today too? What a councidence…

Congrats! May I tell where are you from? Thanks!
@jl2800 Me? I’m international from korea
@Bluebrry im korean tooo, cya there
@mamabear1234 . Sarcasm won’t get you into Vanderbilt mamabear… Also, not quite sure how to post a picture in here so if you’d like to explain that, then sure…?
@Arty123, May I ask where are you from? Thanks!
Congrats to those who got in. Just making sure, you were offered a spot today May 11th? Is this officially the 2nd wave?
Thanks @arty123. Congrats. I guess at this point in the game my D has practically zero chance now. So I’ll make lots of lemonade from these lemons with the $260,000 I’ll save!!! (I think I get the better end of the deal than my D though). Good luck to everyone still holding out.
Hi All, I decided the speculation was too much. I just got off the phone with Kayla in the admissions office. She said that yes, offers were made last week and yesterday, but–and this is contrary to what we were first told, so…–they are releasing names more on a rolling basis as offers are accepted/declined, not necessarily in 2 or 3 distinct waves. What does that mean? I can’t for sure say, but there you have it.
@scout08 Thanks for finding that out, and for sharing. Good luck to everyone. You’ll all end up where you’re supposed to, and where you’ll be happy…whether at Vandy or elsewhere.
hi! I’m still on the waitlist too. question, what are you saying in your emails? I sent two, one when I was first waitlisted and one after I visited, but I don’t know how to express my interest without being annoying. thanks
@MamaBear555 Just curious. Where is your son committed if Vandy doesn’t come through? I think I saw your name other college posts?
All: Harvard is supposedly taking 40-50 people off its waitlist this year. Maybe a couple of accepted Vanderbilt kids will get & take Harvard offers so that new spots for kids on this forum will open. Wishful thinking. Am hoping the same thing about Duke, as my son is also waitlisted there. Duke seems to be taking even fewer off the waitlist than Vandy.
@Momandboystwo He’s committed to UCLA, but still on the Vandy and Harvard waitlists…
How about your son? Where is he committed? Other than Vandy and Duke, is he on any other waitlists?
Can’t wait for this whole nerve-wracking process to be over…
@daring451 Have you won any new awards or scholarships? Do you have any new questions? Is there an additional person of value who could send a recommendation on yoiur behalf? You could just do a brief update or ask a question or alert your admissions counselor about the new rec and affirm your continued enthusasm for & commitment to Vandy at the same time. Or just simply express your continued interest in different words than you have in the past. Of course, I not an expert si others or your guidance counselor may have better ideas. A personal call directly from your school counselor might work well if that person is willing to endorse you.
@MamaBear555 Son was also waitlisted at UCLA & Carnegie Mellon, but he is not pursuing those because we are OOS for CA tuition & because it did not sound hopeful that he would get his desired Computer Engineering major at either of those colleges. And then CMU closed its waitlist for engineering last week. He has committed to Cornell. I think he would take Duke over Vandy if a miracle happened & both waitlists came through. But, he has only sent one email update each to Duke & Vandy, so he hasn’t done a hard sell & a miracle is unlikely! I am sure that I have thought way more about these waitlists than he has. He is dazzled by the Cornell Engineering school but I am worried about the large size of the university. He is introverted.
@MOMANDBOYSTWO Cornell is a GREAT option, but yes, more than double the number of undergrads of either Duke or Vandy. I’m sure wherever your son ends up, he’ll be happy. And if not, he can always transfer; nothing is set in stone. Does he prefer a rural campus? What state are you from? We’re OOS for UCLA too, so yes, the tuition is painful. ;( As for you being more involved in the waitlist than your son is, I know what you mean. However, I think that’s actually a good thing. The waitlists are such a longshot, that you really want him happy with whichever school he commits to. If by chance he gets off the list at Vandy and/or Duke, then he/you can always reevaluate, but at least for now it seems he is happy with his decision, and that’s all we can possibly want, as moms.
my D (actually my SD - or step daughter) was NOT waitlisted at Vanderbilt (or “Vandy” for short) - they just rejected her outright. does anyone have any advice for my SD as far as a LOCI? my feeling is that if she ignores the rejection letter and writes a letter of continued interest, it might impress the admissions committee (they would likely interpret it as indication that she is a go-getter and very persistent and the type of person who does NOT take no for an answer). or would it make more sense to just ignore the rejection letter, send in her deposit and show up at freshmen orientation?
Did Vanderbilt accepted your step D? If not, I do not know how you can put down deposit, and just show up.
