Hi, I’m a junior at one of the top high schools in Maine.

GPA: 4.0
ACT: 30(35E 30M 26R 38S) I will retake this. DNS
My school does not offer AP’s. Instead, we have “intensives/accelerateds”, and I have taken all the possible intensives.
Senior course load: Advanced Latin: Pliny, Astrophysics, Advanced Bio, Calc Intensive, Russian Lit

-Varsity baseball, 4 yrs (Captain)
-Varsity XC, 4 yrs
-Robotics Team, 4 yrs (Captain)
-Finance Club, 4 yrs
-Science Bowl 2 yrs (Captain)
-Science Olympiad 3yrs (Captain) + lots of medals and National qualifier (state champ)
-Jazz Band 4 yrs (First Drummer)
-Titan Challenge 2yrs (Regional runner-up, 3rd in state)
-Teaching whitewater kayaking and telemark skiing at Bowdoin Outing Club (Attended Northeast Rivers advanced whitewater trip freshman year).

Work Experience
-Summer internship at Maine Medical Center Research Institute. Studied cell notching in cardiovascular diseases.
Volunteer
-Peru Shoulder to Shoulder Trip. Worked at an orphanage in Peru for three weeks.
-Other random stuff

Intended Major: Mechanical Engineering.
Also, any safety school suggestions?

See my reply to you for your Tufts/WashU chances. Vandy is really test score driven and a 30 ACT is not going to do it. 34+ might get you in the door.

UM-Orono isn’t one of your safeties? You might want to try the other publics in New England as possibilities (University of Vermont, UConm, UM-Amherst) but from your school choices it appears you prefer to leave the Northeast.

@Nhagler - As others said you need to bump up ACT, otherwise you have everything. What events did you do in SciOly?
