Vanderbilt Chances

Hi. I've recently become obsessed with Vanderbilt University. And I was wondering how my chances are. Please be honest so that I will be prepared to see a rejection letter. Also is there any way I can improve my chances of admission? I plan on studying the pre-medicine track. Thanks for any feedback. BTW, I applied EARLY DECISION.

Vanderbilt ED: Match

Anyone else???

I’d say you’re a good match, at worst case maybe low reach but it seems that your grades match their standards and your ec’s are above average. good luck!

match- acceptance for you

chance me

I hope you didn’t submit the 630 in biology. Anything below 680 - don’t submit. Extracurriculars (very nice) are above average and relevant to your premed track; however, your UW GPA isn’t very good and ACT is average. Class rank isn’t in top 10% it seems. URM helps some, though (as with the binding ED). Course rigor looks good.
Your ECs should help with the sub-par GPA and class rank, so I say you have a decent chance.
Best of luck! I just met with an admissions counselor there and got some good information.

Thank you so much for your feedback. I have not submitted my SAT II scores yet. so i will keep in mind not to submit the bio score.

If you applied pre-med/bio/chem you should be fine. I’d say low match because schools like that can be weird.

Are you applying ED2?

The only issue is your class rank and the Bio SAT II. Other than that, you’re VERY competitive.

You’re probably a high (as in tough) match. You could definitely get in.

Good luck! Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1438458-chances-top-ivys-universities-lacs-will-chance-back.html

Yes, I am applying ED 2. And by the way. I did send in Math SAT II score but not my Bio because the Bio is quite low. So that will not negatively affect my app. But I MADE A HUGE BLUNDER. I naturally sent in my best ACT score (listed above). But when sending in my Math SAT II score, I accidentally sent in my reasoning test score which was terrible. will Vandy look at only my best score (ACT) or will they take my SAT reasong score into account. Thanks for any feedback!

Bummmppppppp

bummmmpppp

I’d be really surprised if you don’t get in. While your GPA looks a little low, your class rank is fine. Plus the ACT score is not normal as someone said. That’s top 95% and will really help your chances. The EC will be a great help and as long as your essay is good, you’ll get in.

Your Blunder doesn’t matter, Vanderbilt superscores. They really don’t care that much about your SAT2 scores. You have 32 ACT and 3.6 GPA, candidates with these numbers were accepted in ED1. It is difficult to predict ED2 because of the Duke and Cornell deferrees.

Thank you for the feedback everyone. I really appreciate it.

How would my chances change if I apply Regular Decision?

Since you are applying ED2, I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in. The stats and ECs only open the door though, so I hope you have written good essays. Good luck!

I had to change this to RD due to monetary reasons. Are my chances now very bleak?
