***Vanderbilt Class of 2021 Discussion Thread***

@MedSciBud several pages back someone commented that their aunt works for Vanderbilt and that she told them that letters were mailed on Friday

If letters were sent yesterday, wouldn’t some local folks have them today?

@cc1721, hmmm, getting more convinced all the time. Don’t see how I could be wrong :))

@piksla, probably not. Another school (GT) mailed letters on Friday and no local person close to DC reported getting letters on Saturday. GT letters were mailed for sure because GT’s twitter account confirmed. Needs more than 1 day, I think.

^^I thought of that too but it also took 4-5 days for a letter to get to me from a school that was 30 minutes away from me so ya never know

I hate how Vanderbilt announces it the night before rather than a week in advance…

@MedSciBud @cc1721 @HYPSPlease @AlbionH hey guys! yes I commented about the letters being sent. I asked my aunt a couple of days ago when the letters are sending, and she (who has worked there for 11 years) said (and I quote) “The regular decision was mailed today (Friday) by snail mail. Keep fingers crossed. The had 28,000 applicants”. She’s not sure how long it’ll take to get to each person’s house (idk if mail delivers on weekends) so hope this helps!

Hmm 28,000 applicants. Possible release on march 28. Coincidence?

Seems like a really peculiar coincidence haha

@hungrihippo Would your aunt also know if / when decisions are being released online?

@kgcollege17 This is our text convo:
Me: “I was wondering if you know if Vanderbilt results come out this week? Sorry for bothering I was told it comes out today and wanted to double check!” (sent Thursday, March 23)

Her: "They announced Ingram scholars but that is not general admission (sent Thursday)
Her: The regular decision was mailed today by snail mail, but can you check it online? And keep fingers crossed. They had 28,000 applicants this year (sent Friday at noon)
Me: I checked the portal, I don’t see anything :frowning:
Her: Strange that they don’t do this online. I’ll update later if I hear anything
^ this was all Friday. haven’t heard since. hope this helps. I’d say she’s pretty reliable since she is head of psych dpt and has written recs to AO’s, but again, she’s not an AO herself.

If she’s correct about the snail mail than I’m sure decisions online will soon be out, especially since I don’t think postal services deliver on sundays

DISCLAIMER: again, please do not freak out/yell at me/blame me if it isn’t online/in mail by time you expected. I’m just trying to give some advice my aunt gave me (I had the choice to tell you all, I could’ve just kept it to myself), so please don’t blame me if it’s later than expected. my aunt is a pretty reliable source which is why I posted our text convo. I’m hoping yo help you all/ease your concerns about when it comes out. hope it helped!

@hungrihippo I promise not to freak out it’s not your fault by any means…can you please tell me what the expected time it is that you are referring to? I’ve read the last few pages of the thread…I’ve discerned that letters went out Friday the 24th but I didn’t see a reference to the online posting time

@hungrihippo Thank you for sharing your knowledge!

Hungrihippo…Thank you for sharing your sources. We understand they won’t be 100% accurate…but helps us to keep our hopes alive.

hey guys this is NOT a chance me…but I was just wondering…I put that I was a National Merit Semifinalist on my application but I never updated that I became a finalist so it still says that…do you think that reflects negatively as if I didn’t advance?

@blink24 yeah the problem is I’m not sure about the time:/ My aunt isn’t sure about the time it takes for mail to go out… I’ve heard on other threads (Georgetown, CMU, etc) that it can range from 2 days to 5 days, so I’m really not sure! Hope this helps

@hungrihippo thanks! do you know if your aunt said only acceptances were sent out or rejections also?

@blink24 she says she believes both acceptances and rejections will be sent out, but not 100% certain
