Vanderbilt Class of 2023 EDI Discussion Thread

@maxh123 I don’t think it means anything, but I was just wondering. Probably people who didn’t get it either didn’t check that they wanted financial aid or already submitted it

@annabel101 Thank you.

@#leonardshi0724 The same thing happened to us and we called and they said it has to do with who is available in your area only. They said the interviews are used to inform potential students about the program and not really to admit them.

@@hiyageca I called Vandy this morning. You would have gotten that email only if 1. You had said you were interested in financial aid on your application (there is a yes or no question on the common app) AND 2. You were missing one or both forms. If you were 100% submitted or said no, you would not get an email. It is not any indication of admittance.

@sheryg Yep, I got an email from them the day before decisions came out (Wednesday) at about 5PM: “As of Thursday, December 14, after 5:30 p.m. Central Time, you may view your Early Decision I admissions decision by logging into your MyAppVU portal or directly (without logging in) via this link…”

Has anyone applying ED had the school recently request to connect in Naviance?

Hey guys! I just called the admissions office and a woman told me decisions would be out on the 14th. She didn’t say a time so I’m not sure how accurate this is but it’s what she told me!

So is it 100% certain we get an email the day before we find out with the link to view our decisions? Just wondering so I have one day to prepare myself lol

@OliviaM2019 Just because they said by the 14th doesn’t mean on the 14th. It’s still possible the 13th. Plus why would they even tell you that information if they haven’t announced it yet?

Idk, I mean they said on the 14th not by the 14th. Like I said I’m not sure, don’t shoot the messenger!

@OliviaM2019 interesting. I called to see if there would be consistency of info and they said “by the 15th,” which does not eliminate the 14th, but it far more ambiguous. Check your spam the day before for an email, as they did confirm that 24 hours prior to the announcement, an email will be sent. It would be nice if they could state the exact day a little sooner.

. My daughter doesn’t even talk about it but ion the other hand am anxious. I can’t stand the wait!!!

When do you find out about scholarships if you applied? When you find out about acceptance?

Hi all - @andrewa101 My D is currently a sophomore at Vandy and I was the one who had the mail notification 2 years ago. It ended up being nothing from Vanderbilt, it was just a coincidence that I had a package from Tennessee. I wish luck to you all.

In regards to interviews, it doesn’t really help much but if you bombed the interview it can hurt you.

@jdag11 I believe they release scholarship decisions in spring when they release RD decisions because they consider both RD and EDI and EDII.

Are ED applicants for scholarships are less likely to receive scholarships because these students are already attending the school no matter what? That’s what an admissions person told me when he visited my school. However, the website says that ED students have the same chance to receive them as RD students. Anyone know?

I called midday today, because my nerves were shot, and was told candidates will get an email on the 15th to check their portal. Good luck to everyone!!!

That’s quite unusual since the 15th is Saturday. If we’ll be receiving an email on the 15th that indicates the decisions will be released, via our portal, on Sunday, the 16th?? Decisions have never been released on a Sunday!

I wish they would tell us the exact day. Anyone else super anxious??!

I’m so anxious!!! I can’t stop checking my email

I just need to know what day it’s being announced so I can stop obsessively checking everything. lol. anyone have a solid idea? I thought Thursday because of the pattern of the past few years but now I’m not sure.

The word anxious does not begin to describe what this mom is feeling.

@BrightFuture2019, “quite unusual” or not, just relaying what I heard. I recently heard from a current Vandy senior that they released the Friday before the 15th for her year (2019). I wish Vandy would consider adopting the Cornell ED approach… they let their candidates know via email last week the day and time decisions would be released this week!
