Vanderbilt Class of 2024 RD Discussion

Some of the waitlists and rejections on this thread are definitely perplexing. These are crazy times and who knows what goes into decisions at the institutional level. Financial aid was definitely less than expected so maybe lots of spots will open up!

Rejected for Engineering
wGPA 3.95, 4 APs, ACT 32 Superscored. Many strong ECs w leadership positions
D is disappointed but not surprised as stats on the low side for Vandy
Still has 8 acceptances to choose from and has narrowed her choice to Purdue or Virginia Tech

Well done to those accepted and good luck with the final decisions.

WAITLISTED
honestly I was expecting a full rejection so im really happy!
Stats: 34 ACT Superscore, 3.96uw 4.4w gpa top 10% of my class
any idea of what to do next? I really want to get off.

Go Hokies!

I am very knowledgeable about Vanderbilt and admissions and the WL. In past years, Vandy was one of the few institutions that really used their WL to make the best possible incoming class (2 years ago they took 15% of their incoming class from the WL, last year’s numbers have not been published yet). This year will be different as we don’t know what will happen with the current landscape - Will more students want to stay close to home at their state universities, will students/families who once thought they could afford Vanderbilt now opt for another more affordable choice. There are just so many unknowns. I think it is wise to always get excited about a choice that you have been accepted to and opt into the WL - but don’t count on it.

Anyone else not receive the email? I’m from New York, not sure if that matters.

Also, are most people that apple to Vanderbilt from the South? Does it help at all that I’m from NY?

Rejected.

Thought I would at least get waitlisted. Beyond disappointed.
I’ve also been invited to full ride events at 3 different schools where 30ish of the top applicants compete for a scholarship and thought I did really well in the interviews there, but didn’t win the scholarship at any of them.

Guess it’s Mississippi State for me ;(

Lots of ups and downs with the college decisions. He is waitlisted at 6 colleges, all of them easier to get into than Vanderbilt. We were feeling discouraged. Then accepted to CMU and now Vanderbilt. Hang in there everyone and good luck

I see the most

Last year’s Common Data Set is up.

That doesn’t quite add up… 30% of 1600 is 480 kids. FAQ about waitlist mentions an approximately 9% rate … are there more than 5000 kids in the waitlist ??
