<p>back to what the OP was asking... if by top schools you mean national universities, then i would say vanderbilt isn't at the same level as the ivies and other top schools. why? because vandy is much more regional and not very well known outside the south.... or not as desirable to non-southern students. </p>
<p>*note: the national vs. regional rule shouldnt be applied to state schools because they are naturally inclined to take more students from their own state</p>
