Just now submitted. Procrastination.

Whoa did not mean to post that three times. Sorry guys.

congrats though (:

I am gonna submit all my apps before I find out about Vandy. First of all, getting denied from Vandy and then going to rush to finish and submit apps would be absolutely awful. Also if you find out the earliest December 15th that leaves hardly any time to get stuff in.

Yeah I’m finishing all of my apps before I find out from Vandy. Being bummed beyond belief plus having 15 days for 5 other schools… Bad combo.

I’m going to have all my essays done and pretty much be ready to hit submit, but not actually send it in unless I have to. Man, if I had to write a bunch of essays in two weeks basically in a state of depression, yeah they would suck, no matter what.

Anyone apply EA to Tulane? They started releasing decisions!

No if I wait I will definitely have the essays and everything done beforehand so I will have to do is hit submit on the 15th. I just wasn’t sure if there was a point that’s too late to submit for a Jan. 1st deadline.

The 15th should be fine, only cuts it a little close because you need processing time for transcripts and LoRs and scores etc.

Yes my son applied to Tulane and he got admitted. It was pretty fast. Online portal in the morning showed complete and in the evening got the good news admitted. Hope to hear a good news from vandy too. He applied ED1

Yes @Suomi84, I just got in! :)

Me too! @cawledgehopeful Good to know I’m going to college somewhere.

Who’s doing the interview thing?
I remember someone saying it didn’t matter? But it says “considered” on the Common Data Set.
Hmm.

It doesn’t matter. It won’t help you or hurt you, and from what I’ve heard it’s more of an insightful/informational thing more than anything else. I’m not doing it since I don’t live close enough to any interviewers, but I’ve heard it helped a lot of people who did do it.

While I don’t think it can hurt you, it may be able to help if you are a borderline applicant. On MyAppVU, I believe it says something about being an evaluative part of your application if you choose to participate.

Apparently it is evaluative, i.e. it is taken into account. However, it is not a let me grill you on your classes and activities interview, it is much more about getting to know you and possibly whether Vandy is a good fit for you? I would do an interview but closest place I could get an interview is England :(. Downsides of living in Finland I guess.

You are correct in that it is not a drilling interview. Mine was extremely casual- although it was her first time doing one. I’m sure it is different for every interviewer. Mine was interested in my high school experience, academic interests, and why I wanted to go to Vanderbilt. When I was at PreVU, if I remember correctly, I believe they said something about looking for the “fit.” But they also said that it was mostly meant for the applicant to get a feel for Vanderbilt if they weren’t able to visit the campus.

@Elizabeth1315 Now I really wish I could do one, since there’s no way I could get down there! Sigh…
I have watched videos with the head guy of admissions talking and he was always emphasizing “fit”, so that makes sense.

So should I go ahead and request one or not?
I know it can’t hurt you, but I feel like knowing me I would mess something up.
Does the interviewer just write down some comments that tag along with your application?
