i did to HOD !
I applied to Peabody: early childhood education
Someone on last year’s thread said they called the admissions office within the week before decisions came out and they confirmed the exact date for them…has anyone done this yet ?
I applied as an elementary ed major!
did anyone see the article that says duke early decision applications are up?.. kinda getting nervous do we think the same will happen for vandy?
Wait what article duke isnt up??
not released, the NUMBER of applications are up. my best guess is that a lot of kids with lower test scores who may not have usually gotten in are giving T20 schools a shot with test optional
i’d expect that too. i mean im not a great test taker but i still submitted my scores (which will probably hurt me lol) but my essays and ECs are pretty good and connect back to my major.
I did! ^early childhood education too
I applied to Econ and History in Arts & Science
Where did u find that?
just from looking at what people are saying in lots of thread, & i mean it makes sense
Any word on ED1 notification date? Thinking 12-10 or 12-11, but I only base that on previous years. Has anyone heard anything more certain?
ED1 2024 student here… Good luck to all who have applied! It was “dead” in the thread last year as well until right before and after the decision date. So I wouldn’t read much one way or the other.
I called admissions a couple of times in early December. They never gave me a date, other than to say “not today” a few times. Once a woman gave enough hints as to when it might be, but she was off by a day. We thought it would be on a Thursday, and it was Friday. Pro tip- you’ll likely be able to see your admissions result 5 minutes before the time they call it for. Also, they’ll send out an email or post to the website a few days before letting everyone know when decisions will be posted.
For those who get in…enjoy the picture of the whole class standing on the lawn. You’ll get to experience that…plus you’ll get Commons experience. Lucky you!
what time were the ED1 decisions released?
5:00 central
their own website says
"Admissions decisions are available on your MyAppVU portal by December 15 for Early Decision I, by February 15 for Early Decision II, and by April 1 for Regular Decision. "
So wont be the 18th.
Has it always been a Friday?
last year was the Friday before December 15, but then the 3 years before that were all Thursday. so it really could be either
I think that is all not so helpful for us- it hasn’t been since 2015 that 12/15 fell at the beginning of the week. I dont think we should expect it this week- but it would be nice
Duke ED apps are up 20% from last year
Cornell ED apps are up 36%
UVA ED and EA up
BC up
GA Tech EA up 25%
Seems that more elite schools are up because a) either people didn’t submit scores and now think what the heck why not, or b) lesser qualified candidates are applying because everyone has been saying applications will be lower due to covid and also last year a ton of kids got into schools off waitlists so maybe that’s another reason.
Hard to say whether college counselors had any clue what they were talking about or just trying to guess, because it does seem that more “elite” schools definitely have an increase in applications.
