@GlennDJ thank you for saying it’s okay to be sad if rejected because if i hear someone say “meant to be” one more time I’ll go crazy. Through the whole college admissions process we try to find a school we love, then convince that school that it’s a fit for us and how much we love it, only to get denied and be expected to say “oh well whatever”. If I don’t get into Vandy I’ll be heartbroken because I love it and I see my future there and know it’s the place for me as a student and person. But, if I don’t get in i’ll find somewhere else, but I’ll still be sad for a little because I wanted and worked hard for something that I didn’t get in the end.
@GlennDJ it depends! It’s very possible there weren’t many interviewers in your area. There was only one listed for mine who was unavailable so I interviewed in Philly since I have family in the area and it was no big deal driving there. Chances are if you requested an interview day of and couldn’t find anyone, there wasn’t anyone to start with. Interviews are completely optional though so it’s not something to worry about!
@em2106 UT is one of the best public schools in the nation but the date to apply has already passed.
And @GlennDJ - it was most likely just because there weren’t any alumni living in your area! I don’t think it was your fault
@gmoneyy I’ve personally never heard for sure from a credible source. What I would say, though, is that if it came down to comparing two candidates with nearly identical stats, I could definitely see the admissions office branching out and doing their own research on social media. When you think about it, that’s a good way to truly see what kind of person someone is based on what they post. You can tell a lot about someone’s personality just by looking at their twitter/fb page.
Oops I didn’t realize people already responded to @GlennDJ
@esa99613 Aweh darn, I don’t know if I want to go to Texas anyways though haha so probably for the best
Nothing wrong with being sad. And thanks all for the answer about the interview. I was looking forward to it but eh.
Also if I get rejected it’ll definitely be weird bc I’ve been talking about Vandy for so long and hoping for so long that knowing it can’t happen anymore (unless I transfer) is a weird thought
but honestly, how could i possibly get accepted with a 3.55 uw gpa and a suckish 4.21 w gpa? and a superscored 1530 sat? 1490 first time and 1500 2nd on new sat. 1st: 750 math and 740 verbal, 2nd: 720 math and 780 verbal. 800 sat 2 us history and 730 chem. applied to arts and sciences for a major in 1st: history and eco, 2nd: history.
How could acceptance be possible? I’ve already internalized last year’s rejection email found from 2020 cc thread!! plus i only have one leadership position, two awards, a couple volunteer experiences, some involvement in school musical groups, and one unpaid summer internship at a small pharmaceutical research company.
I feel that way too @em2106. I also honestly think I’ll seriously consider transferring to Vandy if I don’t get in.
I hope the admissions counselors looked at my Instagram I have a great aesthetic
HAHAHA @em2106
@jayusa8 I’m definitely not gonna eliminate the possibility of transferring especially if I’m not crazy about the school I end up at
@jayusa8 That’s another thing that I keep reassuring myself with, transferring is also a possibility. but man do I want to go straight to Vandy
how big of a role does legacy play? I also had a couple letters from people on the board of trustees but jw how big of a role that will play
@historyaddict8888 I think you have a really good shot still! Your SAT and SAT II scores are higher than mine and I have a 4.2 W GPA too!
@kanyesprodigy I don’t know for sure how big a role legacy plays, but I know it certainly doesn’t hurt and could be an advantage against someone who has a very similar application. I’ve heard that letters from people with connections can be very influential though
Legacy can really help your application for Vandy
I honestly just want to know already!! Regardless of if I got in or not I’m just so ready to know!!!
