Vanderbilt ED1 Discussion Thread Class of 2021

I know decisions have come out the friday before december 15th for the past two years, but has it always been that way or does it change? Cornell is coming out Thursday 12/8 and upenn is coming out Friday 12/9 so hopefully vandy will follow suit. I don’t think I can wait any longer!

@tokyony that would be amazingly helpful!!!

so i guess our best hope is that thursday we get an email saying they’ll be released this friday. if they aren’t i seriously don’t know how i’ll get through another week thinking every day they could be released.

side note: anyone applying engineering specifically biomedical?

I am! @jayusa8

UGHHHH CANT BELIEVE IAM AT THIS CLOSEEE .

constantly refreshing my email

will you guys post asap when you receive emails???

@tjosephs17 I’m very nervous because my admissions counselor basically said something along the lines of “if we don’t see something that shows ur interest in engineering on ur app then why would we admit you for engineering”. I feel likes it’s hard to show engineering/biomed engineering interest through extracurricular me which makes me think I won’t get in due to major choice ughhhhhhhhh.

@jayusa8 I asked my admissions counselor about this when she came to my school. She said because students don’t have to declare their major officially until the end of sophomore year, it’s not a huge deal if applications reflect the major an applicant says they want to study. I can see your concern if it’s about engineering in general because that is the sole area of study for that school, though. Have faith and be confident!! If the school is meant for you then you will end up there.

thank u sm!!! and best of luck to you too!!! @Natbelle

@jayusa8 good luck to you too! We’re going to know so soon

I’m applying to the engineering program too but the only “interest” I have shown in it is taking the highest math/science courses available. Is that ok?

am i the only one who almost doesn’t want to find out??

I am definitely torn between wanting the wait to end and total anxiety about actually finding out.
Also, it’s 12/8 in my country already ;-; should we be expecting the email in the morning or evening?

last year the admissions blog posted the date/time decisions would be released on Thursday (12/10) at 5 pm central time, so I’m hoping for a post tomorrow around that time

@squarerootof42 that’s like me too. I feel like if we have the scores and everything else to get into vandy then we’ll be good!

@kate16 I honestly feel like that sometimes. Sometimes I just think about not looking for when they give back results because once you open it there’s no going back good or bad. At least if I pretend it’s not there there’s still hope and possibility. In the end we have to face it with a good or bad outcome and either celebrate or start to move on and planning our futures in another direction no matter how much it sucks

This is the email that was sent to the applicants on Thursday, December 10, 2015: (the Subject said: Vanderbilt Admission Decisions–Important Information)

I really was planning on the 15th being the day and now I literally can’t fall asleep at night worrying about decisions coming out… Not mentally prepared for a rejection but its so selective. Both my siblings got in so its kind of a family thing to get accepted. AHH

My son has applied ED I from the SF Bay Area. I went back and checked the threads from the last three years. The decision was released on the Friday before the 15th in 2013, 2014 and 2015. This year, though, that Friday (day after tomorrow) is as early as it can fall without being a full week before the 15th. Hopefully, they are ready and will still stick with tradition.
