Vanderbilt ED2 Discussion Thread Class of 2021

Does Vandy send out likely letters at all?

No, Vandy doesn’t send likely letters.

@Loyal0learner What are likely letters?

Most schools these days will send you and acceptance letter, but will only have the rejection via their portal

Did you guys send in Subject Test scores? If yes, then what were your scores in the ones you sent?

@Yman66 those are just colleges letting you know that they’re really interested in you… You know just to motivate you…

@harveyspectator yes I did send my scores… Math II - 800, Physics - 750

@harveyspectator Yes, Maths 1-770, Physics-800

@Loyal0learner @Yman66 @harveyspectator what major are you guys applying for?

Also, since EC’s are so tough to actually do in India, did you guys manage to get decent ones? How is your scene with EC’s?

@vaibhavm99 Computer engineering…and I ‘managed’… I wrote a Chemistry quiz based java game, learned to program for android, taught programming, built PC’s for friends… Not your traditional ECs but, I did what I could in a small town in Maharashtra…

BS Civil Engineering
ECs are really low as compared to other wonderful people here.
School level Competitions- Essay and Speeches
Opportunity funds Grantee
Founded a team of 45 Volunteers- YUVA for moral values
Clean India Campaign- 8 Cleaning events and other awareness sessions
National Cadet Corps. - A-Level certificate and an annual camp
Some EducationUSA and American Center related work
Won two Drawing Competitions
Senior Member of school’s Eco club
Compered at 2 events including school’s annual day
Editor of the school magazine for 2017
Exhibited a model at zonal science exhibition.

I study in a government school and if you know what is the condition there rn, you can easily understand that I faced a lot of difficulties in getting even a so small amount of ECs done. And the interviewer asked me like none of your ECs relate to your major, why? So I had explain all that.

Hey! I’m applying Computer Science (How not clichéd…)

I faced a similar problem as @Yman66 did of not having too many EC’s connected to my major. I applied Management Information Systems at other colleges, so a lot of my EC’s are also Business related.

I like in a really small town and have really limited opportunities. Hence, I only had a couple things even remotely connected to CS/Tech.

I’ll elucidate on them later when I have time (?) Currently on the go.

Also, @Loyal0learner good holy lord how did you do all that and still manage a 82%?!

any chance they come out today?

@tylerperez12 we didn’t get an email yesterday so I would say no

@tylerperez12 decisions won’t come out today but the email could come. Sort of like a 50/50 chance. (Since we HAVE to get it by tomorrow latest.

Can they just upload the decision and the notify us, or do they give a prior notification a day in advance. If thats the case then we are going to be receiving a mail, for the prior notification.

Can’t wait much longer. Tomorrow is my IOC, internal assessments of IB, so the combined pressure is freaking me out.

@harveyspectator typical Asian parents, an over achieving elder sibling, constant pressure makes you do things… Terrible things… @-)

Also, Guys head over to YouTube and watch ‘Acceptance’ if you have ~50 mins to spare… It’s a movie based on a true story of a guy who lied about getting into Harvard. You can relate to the excitement and pressure of the results day aptly portrayed in this movie!

Called Admissions just now. Receptionist said decisions on Wednesday, not before…

Still have no idea why they can’t just post when the decisions are coming out on the blog instead of constantly receiving calls from confused applicants

@Failing2017 like honestly tho just tell us and it saves them trouble
