Vanderbilt EDI 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

Thanks - he’s waiting to apply ED2, depending on what he hears from the school he applied EA. EA school is non-binding and his #1A choice…Vandy is #1B and binding (obviously). If he doesn’t get in to #1A, he’ll go for ED2 and hopefully get in (33 ACT, NMSF, top 10 in class, lots of EC with leadership roles).

@salvatoresuxx I’m on the other side of New York! Haha. I still think we’ll get our letters around the same time though.

@McMomma best of luck to your son and hopefully he’ll get into his #1A! If not then best of luck ED2 and he’ll be informed about interview opportunities after submitting his app :)

@cinnadar lol nice! Most likely yeah, hopefully it will come on Thursday!!! Fingers crossed for everyone

I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight…my D2 just told me she wished I hadn’t told her they were mailed today. She’s got AP test tomorrow…can’t focus to study. my oldest is going to stalk the mailbox and let me know when it arrives, she’s home from Vandy exams as of 3 hours ago. Of course, we won’t know what it says until D2 gets home…but will just stare at THE ENVELOPE till she gets home!

@moonpie best of luck! and please let us know the verdict!

for those of you worried about the excerpt from Vandy’s blog post about this applicant pool being the best in their history, keep in mind they say that almost every year. This was from the post in Dec. of 2011, " Never before in our institution’s history has the applicant pool been so academically qualified, geographically diverse, and engaged in their communities."

Anyone here from Colorado? How long do you think it will take to reach CO? Ahh I’m so nervous! Months of waiting are finally coming down to these next 3 days

maybe by saturday? im in nj and im expecting by thursday or friday. should mail in 3-5 days

You think any chance Georgia will get them today

@jewell95, I’m in Alabama hoping there’s a chance we get them today!

Hoping to get it here in STL today or tomorrow as well. Do you think I stand a chance with my low gpa? (3.78) I have an upward trend from mostly Bs to mostly As and I have taken all AP classes…including AP Chem which is the hardest AP science at my school. Plus my intended major is poly sci and my B’s are all in math classes…

I don’t know…I have a perfect GPA and 9 AP classes and am really freaking out. Kind if expecting rejection…depends on everything else in your app

jewell95 my ACT is average for vandy ED (32) and my ECs are good, I’ve been told I’m a very well rounded applicant haha. I feel like my only weakness is my GPA.

Is it weighted that it unweighted? You should be fine if its unweighted. We’re on opposites, I’m worried about my SAT…

Unweighted. My school doesn’t weight grades. I know someone on here last year was accepted with a 30 ACT, and vandy seems big on the holistic approach so I think you have a chance! It just seems so random to me. I just want to know now haha

Me too. I’m hoping my essay helps. In the blog they said something about our “stories” that were the underpinnings of what we do and that’s like exactly what my essay was about. I did it in how domestic violence personally affected me as a child and related to how now I use that to try and help women and children at shelters for abuse victims

That’s what I figured. Good luck to all!

i applied ed with a pretty low gpa (3.5 UW) and a pretty high sat (1540 CR+M). I’m hoping my EC’s, fantastic essays (so I’ve been told), and rigorous courseload help dilute the importance of my gpa

Just wondering that myself, jewell!
