Vanderbilt EDI 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

I just spoke to two different people in the Vanderbilt Admissions office who both said that letters are going out on Friday…

Are you serious…

Yes, I decided to call and see what response I would get after serveral people on this thread thinking they were going out today. I would love for the two different people I spoke to at the Vandy Admissions Office to be wrong but I doubt that is going to be the case.

Ah this sucks… I wonder where the other people on this thread heard it was going out today

idk my counselor said today…

Thanks Faline2, your words are wise! And comforting, too!

Best of luck to all that have applied early. Please all remember that last year Vandy received over 28,000 application for 1500 freshman spots. The ED1 and ED 2 acceptance rate was only 24.5% That realistic means that 75% of the ED applications will not be admits. Many of you will be more then qualified and may have better stats then Vandy’s published accepted scores/gpa. The college application process is no longer just about numbers. Some of it is pure luck. There are many excellent schools of higher learning, and if you happen (and most of you will) find yourself in the 75%, remember that you are an amazing person, who has worked very hard and will be accepted to the school you are suppose to attend. S2 was lucky to have been admitted ED1 last year, however, 2 of his friends with very similar stats were not. They both are thriving at great places.
Good luck and all.

Had to check on S student account & got admissions, so I kindly asked the gentleman when they would be mailing decisions out, he said Friday evening. Bummer - we probably won’t receive until a week from today!

To clarify, when the admissions office posted the “letters are in the mail” we got ours the next day.

Just checked the admissions blog- letters were mailed TODAY. I’m currently freaking out haha

Just checked…Ehh!! Freaking out for S2 with you ^^!

@boymom5, i realized your S1 got in with a 30 ACT. Do you think there’s hope this year for those of us in the same boat? How did your S2 do?

“Most academically qualified and diverse ED1 class yet”
I’m freaking out right now, so nervous. Best of luck to everyone though!!!

persiandad - I always have hope! He was the typical well-rounded kid. S2 is more of a reach, but he has two siblings there (D transferred.) They will not take a class of perfect scores, they seem to look for kids who all bring something different to the table. It will be a long 48-72 hours in our house! Good luck to you all!

Anyone know if they went out this morning or are leaving tomorrow morning?

Based on the blog post, what do you guys think about the number of apps they had this year? In last year’s post when ED1 letters were released, they said something about how the number of apps that year increased significantly. Nothing like that this year.

boymom5 where are you in MO? I live in MO as well and I am trying to figure out when my letter will most likely arrive.

@bamtam- I’m pretty sure they left this morning

Honestly you can’t really base anything on their blog posts. Most diverse can mean a lot of different things
