Daughter on my mom’s account… 31 from Ohio rejected. For those of you who also didn’t get in, would you mind sharing what other colleges you are interested in or have been accepted to? Especially more middle range schools that you are fairly confident you can get in to. I am stuck with a lot of reach schools and fallbacks on my list right now, but very few middle range.

31 act 3.65 uw gpa Ohio rejected. Applied with my friend who got accepted. And to the girl above I’m applying to smu as well that’s the school I’m confident about it I have legacy there too.

Thank you very much Vanderbilt ! My son got in. Michigan /ACT 34.

ACT 32 from Alabama…4.0 unweighted and accepted

Rejected… Wasn’t expecting an acceptance because of my critical reading score. Good luck to you all!

@Elsmom I got into Tulane! It’s a great school, too.

Accepted oh my god

XenaPearl, I am sorry for your community and for your daughter. I hope there are brighter days coming.

I was rejected :(

so depressed

To all rejected people: Vandy made a mistake rejecting us!! We all are such great people! All other schools would be happy to have us!

I got rejected my brother and sister went there, and I wanted to go my whole life.

SAT 1600: 1390
SAT 2400: 2030
ACT: 30 (Didn’t submit)

My stats are pretty low but my GPA and SAT were almost identical to my sister’s 5 years ago 3.3 unweighted 1390… a 3.3 from my school in the classes I take is solid… Only about 25% of kids have above a 3.0. Played varsity tennis all 4 years of HS, but not good enough to help me out for Vandy. President of a club, captain for tennis, and captain for something similar to math team. Wanted to work for the baseball team like my brother did, but oh well.

To everyone upset … it’s okay! You’ll all get in somewhere and love it. I didn’t really expect to get into Vanderbilt, but I had some intangible qualities related to Vanderbilt that I figured could bump me up.

I’m really happy for everyone who got accepted. Vanderbilt is a fantastic school, and you will all love it.

As for me, Vanderbilt is in my families blood. The last quarter in HS I truly worked my absolute hardest and ended with about a 3.8, my goal is to do the same my first year in college wherever I end up, and try and transfer to Vanderbilt unless I really love where I go.

So far I am into Tulane, and I know I’ll have a blast there so I’ll be okay.

Everyone keep your heads up please I know it’s discouraging, but it’s not the end of the world.

There are bigger problems in this world. Everyone will have to face adversities at different points in their lives, and for many of us, a rejection happens to be one of them. Look, there are people without families, there are people with terminal illnesses etc. If this feels like the biggest setback you’ve faced, then you’ve got it pretty good as far as I’m concerned; so realize that and understand that everything will turn out the way it is meant to. If you were admitted, I congratulate you and hope you find success in your future endeavors. If you were rejected, use this as motivation, and make Vanderbilt regret their decision. We are all so young, talented and bright, but it is what it is. We are all going to find success along our journeys, and I wish the best of luck to all of you.

Denied sad but my test scores were too low. 30 act but a perfect gpa, amazing recs and ecs. It seems vandy cares mostly about scores :/

head2college2018, sorry you did not get admitted. Good luck to you where ever you attend next year.

I agree with you that Vanderbilt seems to place great emphasis on test scores. In my opinion, their rhetoric on their “holistic” admissions process is somewhat disingenuous and designed to simply increase incoming applications. Sorry to be cynical, but my son was also denied ED1 admission. He had an excellent application; high GPA, excellent extracurriculars and recommendations, double legacy, and even attended PAVE last summer and excelled. However, his composite ACT was several points too low and Vanderbilt does not super score. Seems like their “holistic” admissions process doesn’t kick in until after they pre filter applications based on test scores. If your ACT composite is below their 50% range, I suspect it’s very difficult to get accepted unless you meet some other targeted criterion. I don’t have a problem with this, I just think they should be more up front about it. My son is very upset but will rebound. It’s Vandy’s loss. Sorry for the rambling post. I guess I just needed to vent. :)
