My S applied RD last week and also received the email about requesting an interview. He sent out a request this weekend. Since I’m sure the interviewers are trying to get to all of the ED students first, do you think he should have waited to send out his request. If he doesn’t get a response from the first one, when would be a good time to try a different one.

@jrmama496 It’s totally fine! If the interviewer is busy, he/she should let your son know (I haven’t had such luck with the 2 people I requested, but I’m applying ED). Wait a week before trying a different person; it’s what they recommend you do.

Vanderbilt admissions found the sats and sent a kind note. It was a bit stressful to get the email saying that the app was incomplete. Interview is scheduled for Sunday. I think it is strange that a number of interviewers seem to be inactive and in the span of a week didn’t reply. I see no problem with a friendly note to the admissions counselor explaining what happened. I think the admissions office is highly professional and may want to know where the system isn’t working. If you have a deadline approaching and didn’t get a timely reply go for it. Since vandy lumps stats for ed1 and ed2 anyone have an idea of admit rates for ed1?

I hope you get an email back. I just had mine and my interviewer was absolutely wonderful. Have a grain more of confidence now. Have my fingers crossed for the both of us.

Did many of you rank a second choice school at Vanderbilt? For example, my daughter ranked Arts and Sciences as first choice and then Peabody.

I did the same as HOD sounds absolutely awesome.

HOD is really, really, really easy. My daughter did that, but she did undergrad in 3 and then her 2 year master’s of nursing at Vanderbilt. It worked out perfectly for her. Lots of her friends also majored in econ or something else to enhance the HOD experience.

My plan is to major in econ and poli sci as of now, but looking into HOD as well. The ease of double majoring is one of the reasons I’m so interested in Vanderbilt.

I ranked Peabody as #1 and Arts and Sciences as #2. I really want to major in Child Development and Cognitive Sciences but ranked Psychology as 2nd because I also love that. The Peabody College is what made this school my #1 choice :)

(My brother is majoring in HoD and is trying to get me to major in that too haha)

I heard from a mother of a Bryn Mawr applicant (ED1) that they will announce on December 13 since December 15th is a Sunday. Anyone think Vanderbilt might do that too?

@sadieshadow I’m not sure because we’ll be finding out electronically. Though I hope they’re announced the 15th because I have midterms just 2 days later and will not be able to focus on studying after that day no matter what.

Update (or lack of actually) on interview: It’s been 1 week and 1 day since I sent out my 2nd interview request. I should’ve sent out that 3rd request before it was too late :/

Hey , does anyone’s MyAppVU has ‘Acceptance’ ( in Bold ) written under it ?? Then it says to read and understand the honor code.

And then it says, to be considered as a member of the freshman class I need to pay a non-refundable $ 400 matriculation fee ! I don’t understand the meaning of this … Can someone help here ?

It sounds like you’re accepted. you will soon to receive a mail. congratulations.

@EdWood09: Are you trolling, or are you being serious? Because I don’t think they’ll be announcing until the 15th. But if you’re being serious, congratulations! You’re in!

No , I’m not trolling … But I do understand that they are not going to announce it until 15th … That’s why I was asking here. It could be a website error or something. I mailed the Vanderbilt counselor , waiting for his reply.

I checked the MyAppVU yesterday but didn’t see anything like this. When I checked today morning it says Accepted and what follows… I am really confused !!

So, did anyone else have this experience ?

Can you guys please check your MyAppVU and see if there’s something like this … It’s really weird cz I know I have like a 1% chance of getting in ( or no chance ) …

No, when I checked, I didn’t see any bolded things or to read the Honor Code. It’d be cool for you if you could confirm that you were accepted! Good luck. The rest of us will have to wait :/

This is creepy , I mean is it even possible to make a decision in such short amount of time ? Again , there’s financial aid issue ( I’m asking for a LOT of need based aid as an international ) !

The Vanderbilt counselor said he’ll get back to me about this. Is it possible that it showed up by mistake or any software error ?!

@EdWood09 It probably showed up by mistake. I wouldn’t automatically assume that you’re in just in case it was a glitch, but I have a feeling that you have been accepted! So congrats! :))
