Vanderbilt EDII 2017 Applicants' Discussion Thread

My letter just came in the mail (I live about 30 minutes from Nashville)… and I was ACCEPTED!!! Best letter of my life. Good luck to everyone! :)

Congratulations katie! I guess you’re one of the 135 admitted out of the 1194 ED2 Applicants!

Congratulations, Katie! I am about 1 1/2 hrs from Nashville, so I am expecting my letter to come on Monday since the mail doesn’t run tomorrow. Ahhh the nerves!

Definitely EXTREMELY nerve-wracking. Can’t wait to hear other stories as more of the letters are delivered!

katie2013vandy, congratulations!!! hopefully the rest of us will hear the same news  do you mind describing what the envelope looks like?

Nashgirl- thank you so much! I feel so blessed. It was just a normal white business-sized envelope. I could tell there was more than one sheet of paper inside, but it definitely wasn’t bulging or anything like that. I hope everyone else finds out very soon!

Congrats, Katie!! Thanks for describing the envelope - hope to hear back Monday or Tuesday…

Katie…we are about 30 minutes outside of Nashville as well, and my daughter got her letter on 12/12/12… The day after ED1 letters were mailed. Yay for local gals!!!

What a snobby the place Vandy is. When I visited all I saw was sorority blonds walking around like they were too good to talk to anyone. All made up, and fake. Vandy is so unfair in their acceptance process, how they give preference to legacies (even more than the ivies) friends, family, and especially Southerners and athletes. The worst schools in the northeast can outdo Vandy any day, and time. What a joke for 60,000 a year! I know someone who got in from Tn on a football scholarship with a 24-26 ACT- and just see how many will get turned down with scores in the 30s!! Vandy is paying his way while he was benched for the season so he can spend an extra year playing football- no one else could afford to stay there for 5 years at 60,000 a year. What a joke- meanwhile what kind of education is that- majoring in football? So, for all of you who don’t get in- thank your lucky stars- it will be the best thing that happened to you.

Dear indepcc — I sincerely wish you good luck in the future, whatever that may hold for you. But, a word of advice from someone much, much older than you — Live and Let Live, Dude. Lay off the Hater-ade, it’s making you seem small.

Just received my letter of denial. 30 ACT, 3.6 GPA. Incredible interview - but goes to show you just how competitive Vandy is! Best of luck to the rest of you. Congrats to those who are admitted!!

rejected with 2250 SAT… 1480/1600. 4.0 UW GPA and really involved in music and started local charity…I guess vandy is super competitive this year:/ Congrats to everyone who got in!!

Rejected here as well. Didn’t have a great chance it was really 50/50, but I am glad that I prepared myself for the rejection. Incredibly disappointed, but accepting it.

Got denied. 1450 SAT; ranked 2/420; strong ECs, essay, and recommendations (also had an uncle listed as legacy). Congrats to everyone who got in!!

Denied
MO resident
ACT 32, superstore 34
4.85 GPA

Attends a catholic all girls school and community involvement is required all 4 years of high school.
School does not rank, the average ACT score at the school is 29.

Only thought on her being denied was not having enough leadership. She is a member of a couple of school clubs and co-leads them. She is a full time athlete so leaves little time.
If we could have done things differently would have applied EDI, more were accepted. We love Nashville and thought this would have been a perfect fit for our daughter.

Congratulations to those that are accepted.
