Vanderbilt Fall '11 Transfer

Hi Elizabeth. I will try to answer your questions the best I can.

There is no advantage or disadvantage when it comes to admissions at Vanderbilt because of proximity. You are right that there are some top private universities like Cornell and perhaps BYU that offer some advantages for in-state students, but Vanderbilt isn’t one of them.

When I spoke to Vanderbilt representatives, I was told that they take community college students just as they would students from four year universities. Transferring from your community college to Middle Tennessee State may not necessarily give you the edge you are looking for. If you keep your GPA as high as possible, you should be fine.

I’m not sure how much SAT II’s matter as a transfer student. They may hold more weight if you are transferring as a sophomore than if you transfer as a junior. I can’t verify this. All I was told was that SAT reasoning or ACT with writing was required. I don’t know if they even look at SAT II’s. I’m sorry I can’t be more helpful.

Another question I can’t verify, sorry. Perhaps an [admissions counselor](http://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/undergraduate-admissions-counselor.php) can better answer this for you. I would ask now, because you may have more questions later. March 1st will be here before you know it.
