I’m looking to transfer in as a junior too! I had no idea about the ratio between junior and sophomore transfer acceptance rates though. Where did you hear about this @goldandblack12 ?
I submitted my app on Friday and got the portal today. However, it says that the application and acandeic evaluations are missing( the fees are received tho) Does this happen to anyone?
Yeah it says everything except the fees are missing lol, if its not up by tuesday I’ll email them but I think we’re fine (bc there haven’t been any workdays since submission)
Lol my guess is that they have separate systems for processing fees and the application materials so they need time to download the materials. I will check again on Monday. @relo30
so I saw the Junior vs Sophomore stat and I think what’s happening is that people are losing credits in the transfer and being classified as sophomores upon enrollment as “3rd years”
My application and evaluations just appeared on mine today, so I guess they just took a bit longer.
Is anyone else still missing a college transcript and college report on their portal? I had them both sent out early February
Get missing materials fixed asap. I’m pretty sure they wanted a complete application submitted by this weekend so they can start reviewing them on a rolling basis
@vandertransfer I sent my transcript in over a month ago, and I emailed Vandy about a week ago to make sure they received my college transcript, and they noted that they did, in fact, receive the transcript (they also made sure to specify that they received both my HS and college transcripts). Despite this, my portal still reflects that they haven’t received it. I emailed them again today just to let them know that I confirmed that they had it, but my portal says they don’t. They get a pretty good amount of transfer applicants and around 5-6 documents/applicant, so I’m sure they get behind on updating the portal. I would just email them ASAP to see if your materials are actually missing or if the system just hasn’t been updated yet
Does Vandy require the mid-year grade report, and if not, is it worth sending along anyways if it’s a strong report?
same above. How do we send midterm reports if we want to?
I’d assume that you wouldn’t go to all the professors to have a midterm report completed if it wasn’t required. So if I were them, I’d assume that if you send a midterm report that you were required to send one to another school. So perhaps it’s tipping your hand that Vanderbilt may not be your first choice. This may be overthinking it but it is a thought.
@whata777 lol I’ve thought about this too. Are you planning to send one?
Maybe depends how good they are. All As and some good comments may be a yes … but if there is any Bs and maybe no comments probably not. Once it is finished, will get a gut feel on whether it’s best to send it (I assume in email to regional counselor or mail to admissions office) or not.
My application portal says my SAT scores haven’t arrived but I submitted them almost two weeks ago!
Daughter’s portal says transfer report is missing. It was sent on the 3rd- before her app was in. She called and was told: keep checking. They need a little more time to collate some of the paperwork with applications. If your app doesn’t show “complete” by Monday, then call your counselor. Good luck to you all.
My college report is missing as well. I turned it over to the registrar at my school a little over 2 weeks ago, so it’s not been a crazy long time.
@sagitear I heard only like 15% of the total transfer class each year are juniors. 80% are sophomore, 5% are non-traditional. But I don’t want to sweat too much, since I’m sure a much smaller number of incoming juniors apply than sophomores.
I was wondering if anybody could tell me where I stand, because I’m in kind of a weird predicament.
I go to a California Community College.
College GPA: 3.94 (1B in Gen Chem 1)
SAT: 1420
Major: Biology
High School GPA: 3.35
Units Completed: 70
Major pre-reqs: All completed
ECs: Pretty good (e.g. VP of IT at American Medical Student Association, started doing BioChem research this semester, hospital Volunteering, STEM tutor…)
My predicament is that I got 2Ds in a couple of online GE classes in my second semester of college (I forgot to take the finals.) I retook both classes and got As, and haven’t gotten anything other than As since (3 semesters ago), including in Major-level Bio classes, Organic Chemistry and Calculus. I know Vanderbilt is an exceptionally difficult school to get into, so I was just wondering whether I still have any chance of getting in.
@BBoy99 Other than your predicament, you have a good profile. Honestly, I don’t think anyone here can say for sure how they will view that, but the fact that you retook it shows that you know the material and it was also 3 semesters ago, so it’s good that it wasn’t recent. Missing your finals doesn’t reflect well regarding your responsibility, but AOs are also human and realize that people make mistakes. Also, as I said, it was 3 semesters ago, so that will certainly be considered.
Vanderbilt isn’t really exceptionally competitive in the transfer rounds. They take close to 30% of transfer applicants each year. It’s just kind of a crap shoot since they attract so many competitive applicants.
If I were an AO, I wouldn’t completely disregard your predicament, but I would heavily weigh the fact that it was 3 semesters ago and you retook them and got As. I think you’re just going to have to wait and see and hope that they more heavily consider all the positive aspects of your application.
Best of luck!
