Vanderbilt Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

@chlom I submitted my app late january

@goofyspooks Who was your admissions counselor? There’s been a few people coming to this thread and lying about receiving decisions, and so far you’re the only one who’s said anything about receiving a decision on 4/24 in this thread.

Had they released decisions, Vanderbilt would have officially announced that the first wave had been sent out. I too submitted my application in late January and have not received a decision.

Application Status - “Awaiting” Official Test Scores and a specific college transcript?!

I have been checking my status on the Common App and not the Vanderbilt App portal. I thought either were okay. Today I decided to check on the portal and it says it’s still awaiting my SAT scores and Valencia College transcript (a college is went to a while ago for a year, but not where I received my associate degree). I am currently freaking out because I thought they had received it all since the Common App said “received”

I have the receipt for the transcript but no documentation of the SAT being sent.

I completed my application in the beginning of February! I have been going along living my life awaiting the email to find out if I got int or not, and all this time the application was incomplete! I plan to call my admissions counselor tomorrow and see what’s up – but this can’t be good right?! I have been a crying mess for the past hour. I worked very hard on my schooling and this application. I can’t believe this is happening.

I am sure you will be fine. They want you to complete the application so they should help you. Plus, they take applications until the class is full and its rolling admissions! Don’t worry!!

Can someone explain the “waves” of “rolling admissions “ until the “class is full”? Does this mean you won’t get an outright rejection until maybe late in the summer (or acceptance for that matter)? I am trying to modulate expectations

so, in my experience, students can get in even after the deadline for vanderbilt. i have seen it last year as well. so it really depends on the space avaiable for transfers. vanderbilt’s waitlist is pretty much unlikely to get off as demonstrated by last year’s stats

Just got an email back from my counselor. They said the first wave might start as late as early May.

How about as early as today?

@ahy2000 did he or she mention if they were behind bc of the pandemic? Or maybe early May is the norm for Vanderbilt. Didn’t really browse previous transfer threads much.

So next week? Jeez this wait is ridiculous

So no decision in the past 5 years have talen this long I believe, here is their exact words

“I understand your interest in hearing soon, and I know it can be difficult to manage multiple timelines. I am not able to give a specific time period or date as that has not yet been decided. We typically release the first wave of decisions in late April but it could be early May. I encourage you to follow guidelines from other schools as well and not miss any deadlines. Please stay on top of your email as we will send out information on the waitlist as soon as it is available.”

Does this mean I got waitlisted or does waitlist mean the decisions email?

@ahy2000 hmm
that last part threw me off. Did you specifically inquire about the waitlist or did she volunteer that information? Seems weird to add that in unless you asked about it specifically. I would call her if possible and ask directly or email back for clarification. Thank you for the info! Very helpful, frustrating but at least its something.

From what I’ve seen, some schools may claim they’ll release decisions a bit later than they actually do just to allow for some wiggle room (for example, someone called USC and was told decisions would be at the end of May, but they already started coming out). I don’t think that email sounds like it’s discounting the possibility of this week, so all we can do is hope for the best.

@SatanFlower69 I have never reached out about a waitlist and now my anxiety has multiplied by x100. I emailed them back right away.

@ahy2000 Understandable. I’ll keep fingers crossed for you. Id say try not to stress but If I received that type of response my anxiety would go through the roof so totally get it. Good luck

Let us know what they say if you can @ahy2000

@SatanFlower69 @cusnew Just received this. Anxiety levels have returned to their normal state.

“ My mistake – I’ve been answering a lot of questions about both transfers and our waitlist, and I morphed the two into your email. We will send out information regarding transfer decisions as soon as it is available. I apologize for the confusion.”

ROFLLLLL ahhahahahahah - im so sorry @ahy2000

Oh man, I cannot take this stress anymore. Just reject me already. I have been turned down by so many schools/jobs/research/leadership, I honestly don’t care anymore lol. It would just be another rejection, and yet even if it is a rejection I want to know it.
