Vanderbilt Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

Nothing

Let’s just hope for tomorrow. It would make the most sense anyways as it will be Thursday. If it doesn’t come out it’s gonna be a frustrating weekend for sure.

Can someone explain the “wave” of notifications? Will people be rejected outright or just strung along until they fill the transfer class? I heard some don’t hear until August. How do you Juggle late notice with your current institution?!

Hi! Vanderbilt releases their decisions in multiple “waves” meaning they do not release them all at once. They will keep accepting students until their class is full. I think if you submitted your application by the March 15 priority deadline that you would probably hear back before August though—it looks like in past years that most students received decisions in April and May. The first wave has not been released yet (to my knowledge) but applicants are expecting it to be released soon! People can get rejected outright, but getting put on the waitlist is also a possibility. In which case, I don’t know when you would find out the final decision  I would probably ask the admissions counselor if that were to happen.

hi everyone! i also applied to vanderbilt as a transfer for fall 2020. i had a question about submission time
i submitted my common app around 11:40 pm EST on march 15. i received confirmation from the common app that my app was submitted while it was still march 15. however, in myappvu portal it says my application was received on march 16
does that mean that i won’t be considered in the priority group? :frowning: the rest of my application components are all listed as received long before the march 15 deadline, its just my common app!

@ebeckins2020 hmmmm good question, I’d be inclined to say you’re good, but it’s also worth shooting your admissions counselor a quick email to figure it out. You can find who is the counselor for your area on the Vanderbilt transfer information page on their website. Good luck mate!

I did the same thing and my counselor said I’m all good because it was just due to a time difference. I’m in cali.

@ebeckins2020 I emailed my counselor with the same question and she said it’s all good! The date that shows up on the portal is just when it was processed as received, not what’s listed as your actual submission date.

i have bad news guys, i’m all good on the priority deadline too because my counselor said so, but i really do not think that decisions are coming out today. she said (verbatim) “your application was completed and evaluated in this first round of transfer decisions. these decisions will be sent via your MyAppVU portal within the first two weeks in may.” first of all the way she worded it made me feel like im getting rejected, and im really bummed out that decisions aren’t gonna come out today and could come out as late as may 13/14 :frowning:

this is getting really frustrating, ive also gotten in to UNC and need to commit by may 15 if im gonna go there and i heard back from them almost a month ago. everyone who’s going there as a transfer was encouraged to register for classes weeks ago. ive been holding out bc vandy is my top choice but im going to be so screwed if i dont get in and i cant get any of my classes and the dead last pick at housing at UNC. sorry i know this is upsetting for everyone, just wanted to get it off my chest ugh

@ebeckins2020 My daughter is a freshman at UNC. The course registration process is not intuitive and you get access to register based on what year you are, not how many credits you are coming in with. Classes fill very fast. You are allowed to waitlist one class during registration. People will show up in a class they want on the first day and ask the Prof to grant them a waiver to register. If you have any gen eds to finish, consider doing some over summer at a community college. UNC is pretty open to transfer credit. Online they have a guide as to what will transfer from other schools. If it’s not there, the process to request a transfer credit eval is straight forward.

This is truly excruciating. I don’t understand why they need so much time for just a simple “yes” or “no” - it’s been pushed back from mid-April to late April to now mid-May?! :disappointed:

IMO, schools should at least start sending out small waves of the obvious rejections and acceptances by now
I feel like I’ve just gotten more pessimistic about my reaches over time, honestly.

@ebeckins2020 Im on the same boat as you buddy however my top is duke but nonetheless I need to make a decisions about unc as soon as possible!

do people think decisions are coming out today?

Not really. But Ive lost faith in all remaining decisions to happen anytime soon. Impatience is clouding my perspective. Get on with it already!

@trojanhorse1234 @ahy2000 I was Michigan, still waiting for Cornell CALS info science

So now pretty sure that Vandy is not going to come out today?
