Vanderbilt Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

How did you guys get notified that you got off of the WL? Congrats!

Accepted off WL today. Got an email at 3:10 PM (EST) which said I had cleared WL and that if I indicated I was interested in receiving an offer letter I had to login before 11:59 PM on June 20th or else my application would be closed. Logged in and indicated continued interest and acceptance letter popped up immediately. Have until 7/3 to pay deposit. Applied to CAS, psychology major.

Of those accepted today, will you be enrolling at Vandy?

Yes I’ll be accepting my spot at Vanderbilt

Remember last week when people got emails to confirm their continued interest?

I wonder if that was the precursor to getting the acceptance like this student.

The reason I am curious is whether yesterday’ acceptances were the first or second wave
Fascinating that you have to accept within 24 hours!

Will they help us find off campus housing? Does anyone know if Vanderbilt owns any off-campus housing that we could find?

On the email it says we have until July 4th to confirm enrollment, so to answer TNcuriousmom it seems like July 4th is the enrollment confirmation deadline for us just admitted off the waitlist.

@Ryckmann1334452 Vanderbilt does not own any off campos housing. I have a friend from high school who is part of the class of 2022 there and they are still trying to find a place to rent.

@boomeranggecko can you PM me? I’m trying to see if I can get a roommate to help me split the cost of rent.

Anyone here looking for roommate in off campus (walking distance to Vandy) apt? Trying to decide between UMich, UVA and Vanderbilt and lack of housing options near Vanderbilt are becoming a deal buster for me.

@djbesq1 im looking for one too. Lmk on snap @alakhani1, if you end up deciding on Vandy

If you applied for FA, it is little to none chance to get off the waitlist. From multiple sources online as well as Vanderbilt website, it says Vanderbilt reserves the right to become need aware from the waitlist.

So yeah, if you got money and didn’t apply for aid, you’re top priority compared to those who applied for financial aid, no matter how better the applications of the FA people are.

Sad reality :frowning:

oh and if you don’t think is true, it is also a sad reality for you :*(

@thelegitbrian I kind of just always assumed that was the case even when schools were “need blind”. Fortunately or unfortunately schools need to balance out how many students get aid with how many pay full tuition because the full tuition payers pay for the students on aid.

With all of the information from the common app they get about where you live, what your parents do, whether you went to a public or private high school, etc. I think they know pretty well whether or not an applicant is going to need aid even if they don’t look at the financial aid forms before the actual waitlist.

Has anyone gotten info from the registrar at all? I haven’t heard anything since submitting my deposit.

Decided that I won’t be transferring to Vanderbilt next year. Just don’t feel comfortable living off campus in midst of all the uncertainty. Hopefully someone else will get off the waitlist from my spot opening up! Good luck everyone.

Thank you for your update. Good luck wherever you are!

I appreciate people still posting so those of us still on the WL can have perspective and maybe even some hope?!

Congrats on the acceptances! Can I ask you guys what you think might’ve made the difference for you or how you’d encourage the rest of us here at the end?

Has anyone straight up not received a decision at all yet?

I’m still waiting but don’t know whether we have hope.

I just got an e-mail asking if I wanted to stay on the waitlist and had to respond no later than June 29th, which means that more waitlist acceptances probably will come out on June 30th.
