georgetown and notre dame don't have a greek system. If you want to be part of that, then obviously take those two schools off your list.

That's not completely true; Georgetown does have one or two fraternities, but I don't believe they're completely sanctioned by the university (they may have an off-campus requirement or something along those lines). There's APO, which is a service fraternity, and the Foreign Service fraternity, along with maybe one more that's not coming to my head at the moment.

Jags, you're full of it. I've been around colleges since before you were born, including "hot" colleges and otherwise. You can find what you're looking for anywhere. The one differential in appearance that you may have to take into account is how students are dressed according to weather: U/Arizona or UCSB is going to look a lot different than U/Chicago or Boston U.

If your a politico, or city nut, go to Gtown.

I abjure the notion that Georgetown is only for politicians; the surface-validity of this dogma is only perpetuated by the prominence of the SFS, which tends to overshadow other strong departments. The linguistics department is reputable, and the philosophy department is outstanding. Though I cannot evaluate the humanities programs at either Notre Dame or Vanderbilt, I can say with certainty that Georgetown's programs are not lacking for those who are not interested in the political scene.

nspeds, I didn't mean as if you were only interested in politics gtown is your only choice (and vice versa). It is however more politically active than the other schools, and would offer many more options for those who are interested in politics than the other 2 schools. And the city statement still holds true. Gtown is in a huge city, where as Notre Dame for sure isn't, and Vandy is in a much smaller city.

Also, while I was unaware of georgetown's 1 or 2 fraternities, obviously for a school that size, if it only has one or two fraternities, then its a very marginal, if not practically non existant scene. Also, actual greek panhellenic/IFC oriented fraternities are much different from service fraternities. (atleast from what I've seen at a school with a large frat scene)

Also, TheDad, the only person who is full of **** is you. You may have been around colleges for longer than I've been alive, but the last time you were at a legit college party, was also before I was alive. Also, the last time you attended college as an undergraduate was before I was alive. So you probably have no idea what its like now. Living vicariously through your son or daughter doesn't count, as I know I tell my parents a lot, but I sure as hell don't tell them everything.

Yes you can explore almost every facet of life at the majority of universities, but obviously you CAN'T find a greek scene at a school that it doesn't exist. So you can't find everything everywhere.

Furthermore, if you don't believe that some schools have more attractive students then others, then obviously you are either blind, or (and as I hope) are not interested in boning a bunch of 20 year old girls. (being as you're old enough to be their father) But yes, there are schools where the girls are hotter than average. I will admit, yes every school has hot people, but not every school has an abundant supply of them. Just look at a school like Cornell - not the most attractive school on a whole, but there definately are hotties.
