O.k. I've just been accepted to Vanderbilt through ED 1 and sent in my matriculation deposit a week before the deadline. However, I have yet to receive an admissions packet or "Road to Vanderbilt" brochure or anything that confirms my admittance status. I'm slightly worried about this because I want my VUnetID that would allow me to complete my housing application and any other required forms I would need for the fall. Tell me, do I have to call Vanderbilt and see if they have received my deposit, or do I have to wait until the spring like everyone else who will be accepted in ED2 and RD for my admissions packet?

P.S.-From any current or former Vanderbilt students, which residence halls in the Ingram Commons are considered the "best" or "most sought after"? I would greatly appreciate any student input so as to better prepare for the tumultuous housing application.

You don’t pick your hall in the Commons. You are placed in one randomly. And, there really isn’t a “best” one. Some are bigger than others in terms of the number of rooms, but they all have nice rooms. Regardless of the house you end up in, you may end up in a slightly larger or a slightly smaller room. A few people will end up in a large triple. But, you don’t get to pick. You can select a roommate, if you want to, but that’s it.

Yeah. That’s about what I expected. Truthfully, I’m just glad at the prospect of being accepted itself. However, I am still worried about that acceptance packet. When exactly would an ED applicant receive their admissions packet with instructions of setting up their VUnetID? Would I receive soon or in the spring?

i’m pretty sure they don’t send out admissions packets to any applicants (ED 1 or 2) until after all decisions are made. so you should be receiving it in april along will all other applicants from the other decision programs. this is just based off me reading the admissions blog, etc. i applied ED1 to vanderbilt also but didn’t get in sooo jealous of you!

Great. That makes me feel much better. And I wouldn’t worry about not getting into Vanderbilt. There are plenty of other great schools out there for you; just don’t lose hope!

I have two sons at Vandy, one was RD and the other ED. Unless things have changed, you will get your package including the “Road to Vanderbilt” in April. One son was in a new dorm Ingram and the other in a renovated dorm West House. They both were really happy with their rooms. Congratulations on getting into Vandy and I hope you have as good an experience as my sons are having.
