would like to ask your opinion regarding Washington University in St. Louis, Northwestern and Vanderbilt University. I did not get any merit based scholarship from Washington Univ, nor from Northwestern, but I received full tuition scholarship from Venderbilt and Case Western, if it were you, which school you will go? What is the difference between Vanderbilt, Washington University in St. Louis and Northwestern? thanks

I like all those schools, and you can’t go wrong with any of them, but money talks! Some of your decision may be based on what area(s) you are going to study, and how far from home, so that you did not supply us with. Personaly I would go Vandy over Case, but maybe not for engineering. Of course Case is in Cleveland…

All three schools are great. If you didn’t receive a full tuition scholarship from Vanderbilt, I would choose based on fit. But you did so Vanderbilt seems like the clear choice.

It really depends on what you want to study and what sort of setting you’re looking for. Of the three, Northwestern is my personal favorite, and it also has the best reputation of the three (overall, maybe not if there’s a specific program/major you’re interested in). I’d also favor Northwestern if I were you because it has less of a regional reputation (Vanderbilt is well known in the south and WashU in the Midwest, but Northwestern is better known around the country) which could help when looking for jobs a few years down the road. As for the cost factor, I don’t know how important that is to you. If your parents would be financially strained sending you to Northwestern or WashU, then obviously Vanderbilt is your best pick. If you feel all three schools are at a similar caliber for what you want to study and don’t have a strong preference, maybe Vanderbilt is the right choice then.

Congrats, you’ve got lots of great choices. My son is a student at WashU and loves it there, but I still think it would be hard to turn down full tuition at Vandy.

Do you know what you want to study? Did you visit the schools?

All excellent. D you care about collegiate sports? If so, rule out Wash U. If you REALLY want a fun sports scene, go with Vandy. Nashville is an awesome city and a perfect place to go to college. And- there’s the better weather! Great music scene, too. With the scholarship, I think Vandy is the clear choice and it would be my choice anyway.

Vanderbilt for free? That is hard to pass up. It is a legitimate top university, has a beautiful and friendly campus, great school spirit and is located in a very nice city.

Northwestern is marginally better, but most would choose Vanderbilt for free over any university in the nation at full cost.

First of all, given that you have two full tuition scholarships from two great schools, I wouldn’t even be considering the other two.

Vanderbilt is a great school, and I think it’s a little more well-known than Case Western. Given it’s characteristics (location, social life, reputation) I would already want to choose that over the other schools - maybe the only place I would consider going to over Vanderbilt would be Wash U, but since you have a full tuition scholarship to Vanderbilt go there!

Start your life debt free. Great choices, but at the end of the day they will not translate to the amount of money you’ll have to pay at the end four years ( I do not care if your parents are millionaires, it still does not make money sense).
