By the way, dorm assignments are out for those who may not know. I’m not sure when they were mailed out but some students received them yesterday according to the Class Facebook page. Anxious to find out what house my S will be in!

Checked Go2girl’s YES account–housing was noted but not the name of the dorm. She said that kids in Tennessee had already received their dorm assignments via mail. Can’t wait!

hoodie not really warm enough…find a polartec with windblock…for bargains you can check Sierra Trading Post, REI, lots of “mountain or ski” online shops, amazon. While you might wish you had snow boots two days a year, you can get by great with some kind of all weather shoe…short hikers are often like glorified sneakers but have waterproof exterior materials that are useful in downpours or icy conditions. It will rain at Vandy so get at least one layer shell for over a polartec or hoody to knock back the rain and wind.

Where will the housing be noted in YES account ?

Housing will not show up in YES. Only comes by mail. Dorm name used to be posted in the tuition bill but Vandy has finally fixed that, now it just says housing.

I thought by August 1st the Bill tab in the Billing portal will have the amount owed minus the scholarship(s). It is empty and the very first tab “Home” shows the Total Bill minus deposit made. When will I know the real amount officially ? and how is that communicated ?

The bill will be posted today. Student Accounts emailed everyone and confirmed the bill will be generated Aug 1. It’s usually posted earlier – guess they’re running a little behind this year. Your student will receive an email when the E-Bill is available, as will the parent if you created a payer account.

My D is in North House. Anybody else? @Pancaked, any opinions on this House?

My S is in North House as well. I would love to hear some opinions also.

The houses are essentially all the same quality. As you can see in the housing guide, there can be quite a bit of variability in room size and shape within each house. One advantage of living in North is it is essentially the closest house to Main Campus, meaning the shortest walk to class in the morning.

Ok, I’m an officially panicked parent here. My son will be a freshman and he has not received his housing information or a bill. The mail just came and the other student in our town got their info two days ago. He did register for classes and we were invited to a alumni party last week. Vandy parents, should I call the registers office or the housing office first? We are flying to Nashville on August 12 and I feel like we are quickly running out of time for shipping and packing. Thank you!

@familykCT - The bill should be available online (and only online) and he should have gotten an email in his Vanderbilt account yesterday. As far as housing, you just never know with mail delivery. Does he know already who his roommate is? If so, he could get the details from him. Also, I think he should already have his address on the YES portal - mail does not go directly to the dorms.

@familykCT, we have not received the housing information in the mail yet either. Was sure it would show up today as we get our mail late. Don’t understand why they can’t email everyone and send out the packet. My daughter knows who her roommate is, so she knows her room number as her roommate received her mail the day after it was sent out. Would really like to know the move in time. Do roommates have the same move in time or do they give them different times to avoid a logjam in the room?

Mlmama-- thank you for the bill information. I was able to download that from my son’s YES portal earlier. It was just posted yesterday and is due by August 13th so I will pay it tomorrow. I didn’t think to check for a ship address on Yes but I will later. The previous email that was sent said the address would not be provided before the housing packet and that we couldn’t ship before August 6th.

yellowgranite56-How did your daughter find out her roommate? Did they pick each other previously? Also, if my son’s roommate all ready has his information I wonder if he will contact him first? Also, I do know that some freshman get singles so maybe that’s why we haven’t heard anything.

@familykCT, yes, my D picked her roommate via the Facebook page. They seem to have a lot in common. I hope it works out. Did your son request a single or can’t you do that?

Housing info is mailed on Aug 1 or perhaps the day before. If you live far from Nashville, you should not have received it yet. It’s a bit early to be shipping… Vandy recommends on or after the 7th I believe. If you expect something to take a long time to ship, you could call the university for his mailbox address. It should also be available in YES-- click “Address Change” and his campus box address should be there.

The bill was posted Aug 1 for all students. Your son received an email to his Vandy gmail saying it is viewable. You will receive an email as well if you set up a payer account. Log on to the billing portal through your son’s YES to pay.

yellowgranite56-No he did not request a single. I know that they are sometimes randomly assigned although I think that he would prefer a roommate.

Pancaked- the address on the YES account is his mailbox number. That is not the shipping address to be used for dorm items. My issue is getting to ship these items before we leave on the 12th. I’d rather not be rushing to do this the day before we leave. I will call them tomorrow. We were able to download the bill. We are not able to pay it from out college savings account as they have a two week deadline to issue checks and that is past the due date. It’s just a minor issue.

@familykCT , his mailbox number is his shipping address to be used for dorm items. He will not be given any other address. You cannot ship directly to dorms.

My college savings account has an option to expedite checks for a small fee. Might want to look for that.

O.K. flagged down the mail man this morning and it wasn’t there. I called housing and it was sent last Tuesday so they just gave me the info over the phone and are resending it. He is in a triple in Ingram house. Room 407. Any info about that dorm would be appreciated! Not too happy he’s in a triple though. They don’t usually do that for freshman at college.

@familykCT, hoping we get our housing info today. She already knows her roommate, so it is just a matter of getting our move in time. The triple room your son has is at the end, and the triples are bigger. Did you get his roommates names? My D says that some of the triples only have two people in them, so maybe you’ll luck out there. My D is on the 5th floor in Ingram House.
