I was one of those red shirted parent volunteers this morning. It was really fun meeting new families and seeing it from the other side! I loved watching the reactions of the parents and faces of the freshmen being greeted by hundreds of screaming co-eds! It was exhausting, but what a great day!

@moonpie REALLY? Oh my gosh. I wish I would’ve known … you weren’t in the Commons by chance with those two (adorable) little girls?

You may have recognized my husband. He was wearing jeans. (Because 99.7% of the men were wearing khaki shorts. My husband must have missed the dress requirement memo. lol!)

No, @KaMaMom , but know exactly who that is! I actually had breakfast with her before volunteering! I was welcoming parents outside Murray, and Stambaugh … It was so fun! I’ll be there family weekend also, I think I’m working check in on Friday. I’ll figure out how to identify myself. Maybe I’ll wear my Moonpie t shirt (yes, I really have one!) … Or maybe a CC sticker on my shirt : )

Moonpie, we probably spoke to you! Daughter is in Murray. The crew were all amazing. KaMaMom, you took the words right out of my mouth. I can honestly say the move-in process was wonderful. Now, if only we could enjoy the same luxury when we move her out…

So impressed with everything Vandy, s moved into Gillette effortlessly, if you leave out meandering in the Target dorm aisle yesterday. Roommate is a great kid and match. Feel confident that this is a safe and supportive community for our kids…which helps the leaving a but…had that glass of wine last night, stayed at the Loew’s, walked to campus. Coffee in Barnes and Noble now waiting for flight. Good luck to all as we let go…

It will be fine, new parents! But I have to warn you, I am the parent of a junior (he helped with the Move Crew) and I still cry every single time he goes back to Nashville. I hate those drives to the airport, but I get over it pretty quickly, because I know he comes home a lot – Ocotber break, Thanksgiving (for a whole week!!), Christmas, Spring Break, and then in early May they are done. We have not visited since move-in day August 2012, but hope to go this November. And then there is also Skype.

Does anyone have the PDF of the Vupoint magazine with the schedule for the week? I had a link to it but now the link is gone.

@jrmama496 … here’s the online calendar w/ their schedule: <a href=“Vanderbilt University”>Vanderbilt University;

@Jrmama496: Commonplace has a scrolling schedule, as well as a link to the Vupoint PDF Vanderbilt University;

@KaMaMom: We inspected every college-bound vehicle on that drive down I-65, but I don’t think we passed you. The Move-In was successful, but I think she is doing better now that we are gone. It’s so hard with all the families there, and in the way.

Today my older D headed off for grad school, a few days earlier than expected because of a last-minute job offer starting tomorrow. So the nest is now empty. I wonder when it will actually hit me.

Vanderbilt Parents - I’ve started another thread for Fall semester. This thread is getting very long. Please join me on the new thread. We can talk about the first day of class, Anchor Dash at the first football game, family weekend, Fall Break, the first set of midterms, Thanksgiving, finals and then home for the holidays.
