Vanderbilt RD Admissions Chances!!

Hello everybody! I know that these posts tend to be pretty repetitive and annoying, but I’ve become a bit of a nervous wreck since I submitted my application.

HOOKS:
I’m a first generation college student and am also a duel-citizen, so will this help my mediocre SAT and GPA results?

GPA : 3.75 (unweighted)

SAT: 1970

PREVIOUS COURSELOAD :
I have previously taken all the available AP and honors classes.

SENIOR YEAR:
Two semesters of French, English, and Calculus at a local university. AP Bio and AP Gov (at the high school)

LEADERSHIP/EC:
National Honor Society, National French Honor Society, Summer Study Abroad, VP of French Club, Campaign Manager of Queen of Hearts (donated $2300 to American Heart Association), Volunteer for local non-profit, Varsity soccer player

ESSAYS:
Strong CA essay about how having an immigrant family has influenced my life and goals.

RECS:
strong recs from my AP English teacher and French teacher

PERSONAL STATS:
State: SW Virginia
Race/Gender: White, female.
School type: Public
Income bracket: Dad is sole income >$100,000
Financial Aid: I’ve applied for CV scholarship and also the scholarship for students who have worked all four years of high school. I need good financial aid!

Come on, you know that your SAT score is super low. 3.75 is also low for your GPA. You do not list any great ECs. What have you done for the past 3 1/2 years that you cared about? First generation will help you, but it seems unlikely that it will be enough. Your app is submitted now so just wait it out like everyone else.

I wouldn’t necessarily say 3.75 is low given that you have taken honors and APs; however, I do agree that the SAT is gonna be a problem its low for them. ECs lack a certain standout factor to make you unique. Being a first generation student will help, but ultimately I don’t think it’ll be enough. Good luck though!
