Stats: Denied

OOS Computer Science
SAT: 1440
ACT: 30
3.96UW, 5.0W

Accepted: Georgia Tech, RPI, Purdue, NCSU, UNC-Chapel, HPU, ERAU, Virginia Tech
Rejected: MIT, Vanderbilt

I read on a Vanderbilt blog that they have typically accepted 8-10% from the waitlist. Fairly good odds.

DS waitlisted. Actually okay with that. Students at his school almost never get admitted to the elites, so we are happy we are still in the running. Already denied at Northwestern. Accepted at Michigan OOS and Ohio State. Four more to go. In Ohio.

ACT 35
GPA UW 3.95 with 7 AP and 7 honors total
NMF
Eagle Scout
SAT II 780, 770, 750

Congrats to those accepted!

I havent received my decision yet and its like 30 minutes past the time they said they would announce?

Accepted with a huge need based aid. Anyone know how much it changes with fluctuation in income?

Do you guys think that being from Rhode Island might help me get off the waitlist? I read somewhere that they try to milk some more diversity (regionally too) from the waitlist. Also, should I write a letter of continued interest?

Got the W…and the L. Put those together to get a waitlist. :frowning: Oh well, congrats to all those that got in!

rejected. Congrats to those accepted waitlisted. For the rest of us, focus on the school you end up choosing and ENJOY the college experience and make the most of it.

@alexpark17, try logging out and logging back in, or better yet, open a different browser and use the link you got via email which does not require any login to see your decision. The acceptance page is quite wonderful especially the part where the first name is shown transparent against a scenery in large font!

Daughter waitlisted. I believe Vanderbilt does not include WL info on the Common Data Set except for the number of applicants offered spots off the WL- 178 last year. Based on similar schools that do show WL stats, I suspect the WL offers are probably in the 10-20% range but remember not everyone goes on WL. Penn offerered WL to about 9% last year. Also RD acceptance last year was 8.6%, probably below 8% this year. In comparison about 27% of CC posts so far indicate acceptance, with another 30% waitlist.

@alexpark17 - have you tried just clicking on the link in your email?

Accepted! International Chinese student!

Rejected. Sad but life must go on!

waitlisted

So… um when does Vandy release who got accepted from the waitlist usually?

According to the 2017-18 common data set, Vandy took 178 students off the wait list. But they don’t list how many were offered or accepted a spot. But I think that’s actually a pretty large number. Harvard didn’t take any last year, I think, because their yield was higher than they anticipated. I can’t find last year’s data for the other Ivies, only 2016 or before.

I think that if you are on the WL you will have a good chance. Many that are admitted to Vandy are cross admitted to many selective colleges. So there is alot of movement after May 1st decisions.
