Vanderbilt transfer chances/suggestions.

Hello, I am a new member here. I have a few questions.

I am currently a senior in high school, and will be attending Mizzou next year. Now, I don't want to sound arrogant or anything here, but both of my parents are professors there, and I do not feel like this is the right place for me. Basically, I want to transfer to Vanderbilt.

I am planning on doing biology as my major, because it covers all of the pre-med requirements. I am also doing a minor in piano studies.

Now, the bad. In high school, I really slacked off. A LOT. I have a 30 on my ACT, but my GPA is a 3.0, and probably won't be much higher than that after I graduate.

So, what I want to know is this - do I have a chance at transferring after only a year if I get a 4.0 next year, and am involved in extracurricular activities, research, etc, or is it best to wait until sophomore year to send in a transfer application? Thank you.

I think you’d have a decent shot–but even if you didn’t, there’d be no real harm in applying anyway. If they say no, you could just apply again the following year.

Also note that there’s a transfer forum where a number of Vandy transfers and transfer applicants (like me) post.
