Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

@nyrider It works fine for me now. U?

@newtmon lol join the club, a lot of us here on this thread have complained about how the counselors never contact back

I haven’t had any difficulty logging into my MyAppVU account.

Has anyone noticed that Vandy is so slow updating the portal? I sent all my documents well before the deadline and only my standardized test scores are updated.

@joonyblue12 Who is your councilor?

@newtmon John Nesbitt because my highschool is international.

tbh I’m just worried about my College Report. My school is taking FOREVER to send it and I’m worried my counselor will just get frustrated. I have everything else in.

@phoenix23 , keep in mind that because they were busy with regular decisions for a while, they may take a bit longer to register your college report.

Something similar happened to me. My admissions advisor sent it out to all of the colleges I applied to(bless her hahaha). Colorado College(much further from me than Nashville) received and logged my college report waaaaay before Vanderbilt did.

@AGoodFloridian my current school hasn’t even sent it out yet :frowning:

@phoenix23 I had a similar problem last week. The registrar completely forgot to send my college report. If I were you, I would definitely go talk to the office at your college that sends them out and explain to them the urgency and importance of this form arriving in a timely fashion. I’m sure they’ll understand and might even send it on the spot. Good luck!

@AGoodFloridian Agreed. They should be pushing out RD decisions by next week. Hopefully they’ll be more responsive then :slight_smile:

Please chance me!

Current international Freshman, applying for Asian Studies program
No financial aid needed
Current University: Grinnell College
Current GPA: 3.9 (Straight A mid-term report)
ACT: 32
High school GPA: 3.9 Unweighted (Studied in American HS)

College EC’s:

  • Started an East Asian Studies club at a school without EAS major
  • Student government member

Other:

  • Transfer excuse is legit; Grinnell does not have EAS/ Asian Studies major
  • Taking as many Asia-related courses as I can
  • Recs and essays should also be good; 2 recs written by Asia-related courses’ professors

@SunZhaoyu I think you stand a great chance! Your stats are good and I think your academic interests and activities proving those interests align really well with the AS program. By the way, is your admissions Counselor Annalise Miyashiro?

@newtmon
Thanks for chancing me! My counselor is Shane McGuire since I graduated from a HS in Connecticut.

I just want my teachers to post my grades (fingers crossed for straight As) for my winter quarter so I can send an official transcript in. I’ve already sent a mid year report for winter quarter, but I feel like a strong official transcript close to the first wave of decisions could really help.

@watermychances You’re a first year student? What state are you applying from?

Would it be worth me updating my counselor on some research I’ll likely be doing this summer? It’s pretty cool (or at least I think so) - I’ll be working with an economics professor to develop a social business investment model for education based on cases in Latin America, Africa, and Asia. It will be just in the beginning stages of revision by the time decisions go out, though.

@SunZhaoyu Your chances are pretty darn high, I’d have to say. Makes me question my own haha

@limitsbylaw
Pleas do not question yourself! Stay confident and good things will happen :slight_smile:

@newtmon Yea I’m from California. I go to a UC school. I just finished my third quarter (I did a full summer quarter in addition to the fall quarter and the winter quarter I just completed). I have a full year of college credits, not counting APs, as of now so I’m not sure if I’m applying as a sophomore or what. I’ve been reading this thread and it seems like people have been having issues with their college admissions counselor. I have Anisha Patel and she’s been great. I’ve sent her a few emails and she’s always replied within 24 hours.
