Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

@newtmon I wish! I called support, and they told me to try through google, and it worked! Too bad I didn’t get an admissions decision yet, looks like I’ll just keep waiting…

Hey everyone, I had posted earlier on here but I am a transfer student this year at Vandy and I would love to answer any questions you may have!

In regards to a post above, usually A&S and Peabody applicants have higher chances of acceptance as the engineering school and Blair are smaller than A&S and Peabody!

@Vandy2019xx Do you think it’s bad that I applied for mechanical engineering (my main interest) while sharing my desire for a school which offers stronger support in business? I ultimately want to get an MBA and believe Vanderbilt will aid in that goal. I also spoke to seeking an environment of students who challenge each other rather than showing up to class out of obligation.

Can someone please chance me for Vanderbilt A&S? I am really worried right now.

Current college: Top 40 national university (private school)
College GPA: 4.0 first semester and 4.0 on midterm Report
Major: applied for public policy, but mentioned that I will eventually double major in Economcis & public policy
Recommendation: one from economics professor, one from English professor ( they will not be exceptional, but I think they are probably solid)
ECs: Economics club, Amnesty international, homeless shelter volunteer, two internships related to Human Resources and business management.

High school: Elite Boarding School (a tier below Exeter & Andover) (from 10-12 grade)
HS GPA: 91~92 (many honors classes and some AP)

Essays: I think they are solid.
*Also I am international student from China
*Full pay, didn’t apply for any financial aid.

Could any of you help me out with the mailing address for Vanderbilt Undergrad Admissions? I have to mail my college transfer report but I’m having a hard time finding it on the website. Thanks

The address is on the Common Application when you go to the school’s landing page

@Meeeedicine Found it, thanks

@ILR2020 You can rest assured that one of the admission openings will be yours :)) Good job!

Can someone chance me? Since more people are in this thread I thought I’d ask it now.

@Vandy2019xx Alright thank you very much! But I think the applicants to engineering and Blair is less as well. So could the admission rate be similar?

You know what happened to a similar group last year?

Second week of April, accepted. I have a nice feeling we’ll be seeing very good news soon.

Hey guys, haven’t posted on this thread yet but I also applied for transfer to Vanderbilt. My checklist was completed about a week and a half ago. Super anxious like the rest of you but from what is seems, Vanderbilt sends out decisions somewhat quicker than a lot of other schools. Best of luck to everyone!

I actually find Vanderbilt’s early releasing of decisions quite a smart move. They have the leverage of being a top institution(and transfer-friendly), so by releasing their decisions earlier I would imagine this would cause an increase of yield. I don’t know how long they give students to confirm their enrollment, but if it’s only like two weeks, then the accepted student would be in a position where choosing Vandy right there and then could be the best decision[as opposed to letting it slip by with the hopes of being accepted at another school].

I could be way off the mark, but that’s what it seems like at face value.

Vanderbilt doesn’t seem to have a problem with yield for transfer acceptances based on what I felt from last year. In fact, more students than they anticipated accepted offers and absolutely nobody came off the waitlist.

Does anyone know how long they give students to confirm enrollment? 2 weeks seems way too less. Don’t most schools give until the end of May?

Hey everyone, I’m new to this thread. I plan to be applying next year for as a sophomore transfer (I’ll be a freshman in college this upcoming year) from a top 50 national university. My HS GPA is less than stellar (3.65W, 3.5UW) but I plan to finish the school year strong with almost all A’s and 3 APs. My school barely allowed any juniors to take APs so we have to take them senior year. I come from a very rigorous private school, but I’ve really struggled in the science departments (C’s in freshmen honors bio and honors physics) which brought it down. Besides that, I maintained pretty consistent grades throughout HS. I have a 30 composite ACT (31 superscored). Do you think I should retake the ACT and try to shoot higher or is it fine? I have a lot of ECs in HS (4 year varsity starter and 2 year captain of softball, 4 yr varsity player of FH w/ captain and many accolades, numerous clubs, etc.) What do you all suggest I do to increase my chances as much as possible as a sophomore transfer? I plan to be very actively involved in numerous clubs and activities on campus this upcoming year and maintain as close to a 4.0 GPA as possible.

Best of luck to all of you waiting to hear back this time around!!
