Applying into school of Arts and Sciences (hopefully Neuroscience eventually). I’m currently in my 3rd quarter of my first year (did a full summer quarter) at a top 75 National University. I’ve done all my Chem requirements, my writing requirements and by the end of this year I will be done with 2/3 of my bio requirements and all my calc requirements.
College GPA: 4.0-Probably my strongest area.
Highschool GPA: Very low
UW: 3.3
W:3.5.
My highschool GPA was brought down by a stomach issue that persisted throughout my junior and senior years (I had stomach ulcers that were misdiagnosed- I wrote more in detail about in in my additional info section).
Test Scores: A little on the low side
ACT: 31
SAT: 2100
Extracurriculars: Nothing spectacular, but I definitely did/do things outside of school
HS: Varsity Soccer/Baseball. Model UN, Habitat for Humanity
College: Intramural Sports, Pre-Med Club, Chemistry Club
2 Good Letters of rec and hopefully 2 good CA essays and a good supplement.
I have sent in my application, and now we play the waiting game…
I have never done this process before, so I would not know how to chance you @watermychances. I hope you get in! You seem to have proven yourself in collegiate coursework.
Honestly trying to not think about it as much as possible. Also distracting myself with extracuricularactivites/settting other goals. So far it has worked, but I know the stress is going to come by the time April arrives.
@sgallagher23 If they want them I’m pretty sure they will ask you for them, but if you are doing well and get your mid term grades in before decisions come out it can only help.
@AGoodFloridian: The first thing I did was transfer orientation, which is a great thing they do for transfers. It’s a great time to meet other transfers and orient yourself to the campus. After that, I mapped out my schedule and walked it once a day because it’s a small school but it’s still kinda hard to get lost when you’re new.
@Vandy2k17 The process was very interesting. At first, you’re in orientation all day every day and then suddenly there’s nothing. I think they expect transfers to already know how to do college etc. so they aren’t as worried about making sure you’re keeping up, but you always have the opportunity to reach out to your orientation leader and check in/make sure everything’s on track. You have plenty of support the whole time!!
Applying as Neuroscience Major. I applied ED to Vandy last year.

@sgallagher23 good luck. I’m applying to Neuroscience (we both are really applying to the college of Arts and Science) as well. About what rank is your current college?

Let me know what you think, and good luck to everyone! I’m betting I’ll get wait listed until they receive my final spring grades
@orneryhippo Do you have enough credit to qualify as a transfer? You have pretty good extracurriculars but with no real college classes on a transcript it’s hard to say.
@watermychances I contacted transfer admissions today they said they will still review the application and then
decide. More than likely what will happen is they will defer my decision until they receive my transcript.
Hey guys, I’m applying as a Poli-Sci/Economics major.
College GPA: 3.96
SAT: 2250
I’ve published quite a bit of writing this year and have a number of writing awards; however, I’m worried that my ECs and course load at school do not necessarily come together and form a cohesive narrative. Does anyone think that they could take a look at my resume?
Ahh, I’m so nervous. . .round two of college applications. :’^)
