Vanderbilt Transfer Thread

iansown:

Regarding financial aid, I am in Nashville right now and I was at Vanderbilt all day. They made it seem that they meet 100% need based aid no matter what. I don’t think it matters how long it will take you to graduate. Oh by the way, Vanderbilt is great I put my deposit down today too!!

jaimetransfer,
That is great to hear. I turned in my deposit yesterday. See you all at transfer orientation!

CAS checklist:

Thanks for that link - it’s very helpful.

Just got my acceptance letter :)

Congratulations!!

damn I haven’t hears **** …anyone been rejected yet?

TACO:

I would recommend calling the admissions office… The deadline for the matriculation deposit it May 1st (Today).

Hey I was reading on the Facebook page that someone applied for housing already? I thought we couldn’t apply yet. Did anyone get any additional information in the mail regarding housing and such?

you have to send in the deposit then they’ll give send you the information you need to log in and everything. you’re going for sure iansown? my deposit is going in asap, so excited!

Yeah, I sent in my deposit two days ago. I can’t wait to get there and meet all of you.

Seriously I know what you mean. I went on a little Vanderbilt shopping spree yesterday, can’t wait to get to campus! Do we get roommates? I was reading the transfer threads from last year and it sounded like a lot got singles but I mean I think it would be cool to have a roommate.

Yeah, I was looking through housing and saw that a lot of the rooms are single. I wouldn’t mind a good roommate for my first semester there. It’d be easier to make a friend.

Hey! so I am back from Vanderbilt. . . although it was the longest drive of my life it was worth it! … Regarding housing, I talked to someone in the housing office and basically transfers get no choice. We can put our preference down but they sort of choose for us whether we get a single or a double. Anyways, the campus was AMAZING, and the people were great too. I bought like a million vanderbilt clothes from the store. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

How are you all getting there come move in day? I’m coming by plane so I’m definitely limited with what I can bring.

Jaimetransfer,
were you able to take a look at the dorms, single and double? How do they look? Are they spacious? How are the communal kitchens, bathrooms, etc.? Are they communal?

Do the prices of dorms vary greatly depending on single, double, apt style, do you know?

Did you ask about how transfer orientation is going to be like? I really hope they’re transfer friendly because I’m going to be so lost come the Fall.

I did see the dorms. The freshman ones are nicer :-/. I saw the other dorms by asking a random person if i could see their dorm, and she just happened to be one person in charge of transfer orientation. They are transfer friendly! When this girl transferred, she had 7 other transfers that lived on the floor with her. I actually did not walk into the communal bathrooms because I didn’t want to scare anyone, but most dorms have communal bathrooms. Although, some dorms are supposedly suite style and only like 3-4 people share a bathroom. The communal bathrooms are cleaned by Vanderbilt once a day which is good!

I am flying to Vanderbilt too, which means I am limited in stuff to bring. THE CLOSETS ARE TINY!!

Oh, and I don’t think the price varies greatly between the dorms.

That’s soo great that they house us together, somewhat. And I know, I wish we could have lived in the Commons! They look so posh. Are the dorm rooms a good size though? Like I’m thinking about bringing a mini fridge but I don’t want it to take up the entire room…

And I seriously don’t think you guys have to worry about flying. You’ll find that two suitcases of clothes is just about all you can fit in the closets anyways. But it sucks transferring, I have to sell all my stuff I can’t fit on the plane with me!! Ughh.

I wouldn’t say the dorms are a good size lol, but I am sure you can keep a mini fridge in there. It is just like a typical college dorm anywhere, maybe a little smaller!

Hey, what is the main mode of transportation at Nashville?
