Hey guys im going to be applying to vandy(and probably other schools) as a sophmore transfer next year, im trying to fig out how exactly i should keep my stats and if being a nashville, TN residence actually helps or hurts my application.

my high school gpa was baddish due to my idiocy during my 10th grade year but i did complete the IB diploma program and passed all of the tests. high school gpa is arnd like 2.7ish and ACT is 26 (26 in writing, 27 reading, 28 math, 23 science, and a 10 in writing out of 12). I was also heavily involved arnd my school during high school as well, and i plan to do the same thing at lipscomb, frm which i will apply as a transfer studen tto vandy

im trying to see how well i will stand next year as a transfer student, and what are the stats on accepted transfer students at vandy right now? and how many transfers are accepted you guys have any idea?

thanks for responding, I saw on this thread that another student had the EXACT same stats as I did in High school however he/she was accepted as a transfer student, Im guessing this is because of a good college gpa, so far i believe i have a pretty good college gpa i actually have a calc test tomorrow and I kow im going to ace : ) just love that feeling of success about to come my way.

but if i were to maintain a greater than 3.5gpa for my first semester of at lipscomb, do you think I would have a good chance? hoenstly im attempting to get my gpa at 4.0 not even aiming for 3.5 to be honest. but I do appreaciate everyones and anyones responeses.

thanks and grats to all of the lucky people already attending vandy!

(pardon my mis-spelling im typing really fast without actually checking for accuracy, however I can type over 85 words per minute accurately when I actually try : ) source : online typing tests for fun)

4.0 GPA (40 credits by the time I apply, 60 credits overall by the time I transfer)

2.8 hs gpa 1440/2400 SAT

ECS
President of Phi Theta Kappa
President of Psychology Club (future major)
Senator in Student Government
Peer mentoring club (tutors underpriveleged students)

quick question… besides the common app and Vandy’s common app supplement, what else do they want from us? Teacher Evaluations? College Official’s Reports? It seems to me like Vandy doesn’t have a very useful website or maybe I can’t find what they want! Thanksss!

I am currently a sophomore finance major in the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder . I’m applying to Vanderbilt for the Fall 2010 semester. I was wondering if it is possible for you to evaluate my chances at acceptance as well as what I might need to do to improve my chances. Vanderbilt is my 1# choice and I believe that would contribute a unique perspective to the student body. I would appreciate any information you could provide to help improve my chances for acceptance.

Just finished at very competitive finance summer internship at George K. Baum & co., a large investment bank in Denver.

I am also on the Division I rugby which is currently ranked 8th

How would Vanderbilt being your number one choice contribute a unique perspective to the student body? What major are you applying for (there is no undergraduate business school at Vanderbilt)? Work hard this semester and next semester to continue that rising trend.

i’m not saying that vandy being my #1 is in a any way a part of my contribution to the school. It’s just two separate statements. I’m applying to A&S for ECON. my gpa this semester with be 3.6+, bringing my cumulative to above a 3.3. How will Vandy view what i do next semester if a apply mid spring 2010 semester. would they wait for my final grades or look at my midterm grades.

Please chance me? I was flat out denied when I applied regular decision during my senior year in high school, but Vandy is still my #1 choice!

I spoke with the admissions counselor and she said that in transfer admissions the college GPA will be the most important deciding factor in transfer admissions, but other stuff is still important. so high GPAs everyone! Right now im about to take my exams (starting tomorow actrually) and If I do decent(as in do well enough to keep the grade i have now) I will have a 3.588 GPA you guys think that is good enough, assuming I write good essays?

Im pretty involved:

I worked with the Oasis center volunteering at elementary schools and teaching them about various cultures and my culture (im not white…lol).
only 26 on ACT : ( but this was like sophmore year and it doesn’t look good none of the less.
Played Varsity Tennis in High School, and football.
Was invovled with the thesbian society, i was a part of the “work crew” and was involved in the production of school sponsored live plays.
high school gpa was low, i was stupid sophmore year: 2.8
I am tutoring high school chemistry students right now as well, as a part time job.
Held a workshop at "TIRRC"s annual convention for involved youth to show them how to tackle subjects such as discrimination and racism.
I have self taught myself guitar, harmonica, and I am still learning piano, by teaching myself. Im also teaching others guitar right now, without pay which is good because most guitar teachers charge about 25-35$ a lesson lasting only like 35mins to 45mins.

im sure im forgeting something but using this someone tell me what they think my chances are if all of the above hold true (well the GPA really thats the only thing that can change and if it does it willl be to like a 3.41 which would **** me offfff)

CONGRATZ on your acceptance! i know its been like a year but Im in the shoes you were in about a year from when your reading this hahah

I was wondering can you tell me your stats at the time when you were admitted for transfer admission like gpa Extra ciricular and how hours you were enrolled in and how many hours you completed. I have a similar hs record as you and I REAALLY REAAAAAAly want to attend vandy next fall and im applying as a transfer and i’ve got arnd a 3.58 gpa but i want to know realistically my chances : P

preaaatyyyy pleaaazzzz tell me : ) you’d give me sense of mind and i wouldnt be so INCREADIBLY anxious and excited right now i’ve got butterflies that wont stop fluttering or rats or whatever that weirdly beautiful articulation of words is lol

From what I read on the web site, yes. I had my high school fill out what they could and note that they had no basis for evaluation on the rest. They had no problem doing that for me.

Im applying for junior transfer, what are my chances given my stats:

-HS GPA: 3.5 (Several APs from private HS +Middle college program senior year)

-College GPA: 3.33 at Public SEC uni (TN) but 3.96 this last semester. I know I have a low GPA but I intend to explain that as best I can. I didnt discover my passion for finance/econ until recently(bombed first semester as engineering major) but since that first semester I have shown significant improvement, almost every semester is stronger than the last, especially the most recent one (3.96 gpa taking 19 hours). Also I have excellent grades in business courses (in my major).
